New Ticket Design Launched

Southern's prosecutions department are still insisting that these tickets are fake, and are attempting to extract a 4-figure sum from a forum member to settle an allegation of making a fake ticket design.

Most TOCs have high-up managers who read this forum, but I guess that isn't the case at Southern any more, and it's also a shame they don't read their briefings and notices from ATOC.

I've not had any problems using them. Has anyone else? (other than early on staff mistaking them for receipts)

Had a member of staff at London Bridge tell me they weren't travel tickets. I had to explain the changes and so they went and asked one of the Southern staff.

So Southern staff are aware but obviously not the right people are aware.

Yes - it really does overlap if you get one with a second reservation. Due to the rarity of bookings with 3 or more reservations though, I haven't collected one such yet. They may also have suspended collection in the new format for Advances.

Not quite the new design under discussion here, but I had a 16-25 Railcard-discounted Plusbus issued this evening from a Fujitsu STAR system that had the discount status code as '16-25' instead of 'Y-P' and also printed in a font the same size as the date field.

An interesting move, presumably to reflect the new format for travel tickets, especially since the 16-25 Railcard has had its present name for six and a half years and until now the traditional 'Y-P' field marker has remained

On the Northern experimental new layout: regarding the overlapping text mentioned a few posts above, that really is very poor. There's a lot of work to do on the detail of the new layout before it can be accepted as fit for purpose, in my view.

I've seen a couple of 16-25 tickets in Croydon this week. Also spotted someone with a new format one day travelcard - as someone else was with them, I didnt get a good look at it =/

The EMT Parkeon 'TOD' machines are still issuing Y-P status tickets, but the rest of their TVMs and Avantix machines seem to have gone over to the '16-25' status codes. Seems a strange move to make if this ticket format is soon to disappear!

I would Imagine it wasnt that difficult to change, and it also get guards used to seeing 16-25, rather than YP. Before the new ticket is introduced

True. We weren't actually told about it though, so the first one I saw got a very close examination as I thought it was a very well done forgery.

I was quite disappointed my ticket wasn't checked going to Mauldeth Road!

What is the official name for the railcard? I'd have thought YPRC would be best as it shows that it's with a railcard. 16-25 could mean that's the price for people who are between 16 and 25 (so show a passport/driving licence) and you're okay, without the need for any railcard.

(Just pre-empting any possible issues in the future)

Then of course there's the other issue, which is that you can be older than 25 and still be entitled to use them, although I hope that for such a ticket there's not a single RPI in the country that doesn't know that.

I suppose the new ticket design will fix all of this, but it doesn't seem as if these are coming nationwide anytime soon.

No issues with a new format ticket issued "oop north" at either the gateline at Hastings (Southeastern) or Eastbourne, and Brighton (Southern).

The ticket office at Stalybridge gave me one of the 16-25 tickets today, suggesting TPE are issuing them. Guard also accepted it no problem.
Don't know about the TVM though, will find out on Monday.

I have had tickets issued with "16-25" instead of "YNG" from four locations now so it looks like a pretty central change:
Tickets ordered before the change on East Coast and issued by a TVM at Crawley
Tickets ordered after the change on East Coast and issued by a TVM at Gatwick Airport
Tickets bought in person at Charing Cross and Stratford International

I also managed to get the 16-25 wording on my tickets today . The Super Off-Peak Return was bought online from Southern and collected from S&B machine at Hounslow. The PlusBus was purchased from the ticket office at Brighton.

I collected tickets from a Parkeon TOD machine at an EMT station today and can confirm that, that machine at least are still issuing tickets with 'Y-P' status codes. Noticed plenty with '16-25' codes today

An interesting time to change the design, as I travelled from Crayford to Staines with the "Y-P" code on Tuesday, whereas going from Ebbsfleet to Folkestone today was the new "16-25" code

Incidentally I bought a Leeds to Edinburgh ticket and where the railcard status should be there was a QR code and in rather small writing there was 'Status : 16-25'

Is the QR code used by the conductor to basically track the history of the ticket or could I use it to exit ticket barriers? (I couldn't test either, the conductor(s) simply stamped it and any ticket barriers encountered were open anyway!
