HS2 will be able to use standard equipment from standard European contractors, so will actually be cheaper than most routes, thanks to not needing special UK equipment...

HS2 will be having Furrer and Frey OHLE, it is being used on the GE upgrade now, and is going to be used on the GWML.
As for the HOOP every major job involving new OLE will be using the HOOP.
Liverpool-Manchester will be using the existing wiring train so ive been told

Is there only going to be one of these "HOOP" trains then?
I'm pretty sure when they were first announced the order was to be for two.

I wonder if we could see an order for the second train if this train actually does function as well as it is supposed to.

It might be they originally didnt expect to get the original wiring train back, early reports I saw suggested they wernt going to use it. More electrification probably increases the chance of a second HOOP being ordered.

Don't tell the MPs HS2 will probably be the French LGV design (track, electrification, signalling, trains).
The MPs were already assuming all the jobs/equipment would be British.
Made me wonder what the UK content of HS1 was, beyond concrete and steel...

Actually the last two LGVs use British designed track systems.

There will be no need for high output electrification methods on HS2, as there's no need for 8 hour possessions ! It will be done the cheapest way for the design.

Thanks for that. Of course, the before is actually an after itself! The previous fitments don't actually look in that bad a condition. Is there something less obvious that prompted the replacement parts? I must admit the new registration arms do look a little easier to install, maintain and adjust.
