950001 noted at Exeter St David’s this morning on the 0519 Par - Derby RTC. To be fair its engines sounded far smoother than the local 150s. Here’s a photo of it at Exeter today.

Often wondered if the 950 has ever worked in multiple with another class 15x.
Difficult to see any reason why it ever would have, unless in the event of breakdown? But I imagine it’d be perfectly compatible!

I worked on this unit a number times in the mid to late 1990s, along with the TRC, UTU, MENTOR and TIC. Happy days

Nobody on here has reported any movement of the 950 since the 27th of June. Is it still out and about?
The latest sighting on Rail Record is 950001 working 2Z08 Derby RTC - Falkland SS, on Sunday 3rd August, but as for days after that I'm not sure

(Not the greatest of pictures, as it was a screenshot on my Samsung!) 950001 last worked 2Q08 back to Derby RTC from Slateford Depot on the 6th. I was fortunate enough to catch it at Spondon!

Glad to know it’s still about. In my photo of it above at Exeter it is seen with an emergency headlamp. Gven it is coming to the end of its career I hoped it was a fault that was easily fixable.

One would think it would be easily fixed as tfw have scrapped a few 150s

Surprised it wasn’t at the Gathering; did NR send any yellow stuff?!
Presumably as it made the long journey from Derby to Ayr during the weekend 0f the Greatest Gathering (mentioned upthread), it would have been unavailable for the event

That does seem a reasonable excuse!

Any ideas if this is going to run , if so it's probably the 950's last London outing
Yes - it's on it's way from Derby this afternoon:

Not personally I don't, although there must be some indication somewhere?
I daresay there is - but the thing I don't get is why it's thought to be imminent.
I reckon most 150s have done way more miles than 950001 has done. So why's it thought that 950001's ready for the chop?

Somewhere, not in London

Corrosion doesn’t care about miles and the new VIUs that l are more numerous and have common spares and features are replacing its function.

1757467339730.jpegGot some nice photos of it , Glad I went out and saw it as the 950 is quite an odd sight in London , most test trains here are either T&T 73's or 153's from my experience.

Where did you get the info that it’s the last London outing?
I don't know for sure but I presume it could have been.

The 950 is quite rare in London, this is the only time I've ever seen it about down here , most test trains here are 153's so due to the rarity of it ending up in London I presume it may have been the last London outing.

It's running on a Z headcode to Slateford today, strange to see it use 2Z08 , Doesn't it normally use 2Q08 ?
