The only reason I asked about the tunnel is because it collapsed in the middle - your reply suggests you didn't know that. Arnold by bus is dead easy.
Collapse being the key word here I fancy.

Lots of people in ARnold want to go to Nottingham though.
The fact that the line goes via Gedling is not a major problem, it still has the buses beat easily for travel time.
So people must always travel in absolutely straight lines?
How do you work that out? (see other posts). Yes people travel in straight lines when it's the quickest way.
In fact the council and the part-owned operator NCT has won several transport awards over the years and is one of the few places where public transport use is rising. Not sure where arse-finding comes into this but it seems to me the city is doing more things right transport-wise than most other places.
All trains would stop at all stations and would use rapidly accelerating multiple units to keep out of the way of the existing express and freight services on the lines.
What about tram trains? Then you could connect the new proposal into the existing tram network, add a few more underground stops in the city and be able to sort the frequencies out.
For the mainline platforms all you would need is low-floor platform extensions.

That depends on how fast the tram trains were capable of travelling. 50mph wouldn't cut it with regards to allowing for the timetable improvements necessary for the scheme to suceed.
I want a timetable that beats the original sprinter timings for Grantham-Nottingham and does it with the stops![]()
Maybe if they were physically only able to do the same speed as the sprinters (70-75 mph) but had faster acceleration, then journeys would be quicker.
Has it had a recent collapse? It was repaired after its collapse in the 1920s (?) and I thought it had remained intact since. The only reason I asked about the tunnel is because it collapsed in the middle - your reply suggests you didn't know that. Arnold by bus is dead easy.
