I forgot Prog Rock for my list too.
As for favourite bands? In order: Eagles (by a mile), Led Zepp, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, The Who, Eric Clapton, Deep Purple, The Jam.
Favourite musicians? Neil Peart, Joe Walsh, John Entwistle, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson.
Eric Clapton is an artist, not really a band!!
To be fair I did put him in as a last minute inclusion! I am not his number one fan but there are some pretty good songs he did (Layla in particular).
His main asset (thats unfair really) is that he is an absolutely amazing guitarist. In fact, absolutely amazing is probably underselling him.
but he was very, very good, I'll give him that.
The thing with guitarists like Eric Clapton or Mark Knopfler, is that because of how good they are, it doesnt look like they are putting the effort in. Its literally effortless. So its sometimes diffcult to tell how good they are.
They dont show off either
My favourite artists are (1) The Alarm,(2) Adam Ant,(3) Def Leppard & (4)The Waterboys. I don't know if this means I'm into rock or pop or who-knows-what.
My ears are still ringing after Rammstein yesterday so not much for me![]()

Its a shame that Punk didn't succeed in wiping sugar coated crap pop off the face off the earth, otherwise crap like Scissor Sisters would never of existed.
Eek, another Poconut on the Forum !Country / Folk influenced rock:
Eagles, Byrds, Poco, Green On Red.
Scissor Sisters are pretty good IMO (and usually my taste is heavier/obscure)
Plus you'd never wipe out any genre of music, if everything was punk it would be pretty boring...
