I had my DMI and passed in October still waiting for a start date.. applied for ilford / gidea park and have been told that spaces for these depots are very limited and could possibly just be waiting till places come available and they can’t tell me exactly how long just yet.

I applied for ilford and yeah it’s been about 6 weeks still waiting for DMI.
Have any of you lot emailed them and had a response? I was thinking of contacting them tomorrow.

Hard luck KingBob sorry to hear that. Look on the bright side that all the assessments are done and you can apply for other stuff and go straight to DMI. The experience of having sat one already will serve you well for next time.
Just got an email from Crossrail. Says that all positions are filled on the east and that I will be put in a holding pool until posts become available!!
Pretty poor show, I was told in my DMI that the course dates start in Feb/Mar/Apr so I had got my hopes up and now this is just a cruel blow!

I had emailed them on Friday and just got that email! I’m still waiting for an interview so email says interviews...
“Will likely take place toward the end of January/beginning of February“
And that you’ll enter a holding pool, But...
“At present we are unable to say when there will be future positions unfortunately”

I done my mmi back in November too.
Reruitment one on the contact page of the website mate! Email today wasn’t a response to that though was just a generic email! Think it’s going out to everyone who has applied for the east! God knows what’s going on. I know someone who has there MMI this month for gidea Park, wonder if they still gonna be going ahead with them if no positions.
It just seems like they have put terrible thought into this. What is the point in getting everyone's hopes up with going through this process to then not actually have the positions available to offer!? I understand they have had delays but this was surely to be expected.
The only reason I can see them continuing with finishing all the DMIs is so that they can pick out all the top scoring candidates and bin the rest. Which is fine if they hadn't already told you that you've practically got the job and your waiting for a start date!

Thats exactly what I’m thinking now hope its not the case as a successful DMI should all be going through regardless of scores! They should put the waiting in date order rather then scores! Oh well lets see what happens now I had my hopes up now I feel so gutted!
Rubbish mate ain’t it! I knew it took roughly 4 weeks for a DMI date so been checking email every day since just after Xmas and now this today! Oh well, fingers crossed we still get an interview end of Jan/beginning of Feb like email says and then go from there!

Don’t think anyone has been given a start date! Seems that a few have passed the DMI and was waiting but everything on hold now!

Did they actually take any trainees at all from this recruitment (which was I think July) for the East depots?
You reckon the delay has anything to do with it because I’m sure they wouldn’t advertise for depots in east if they didn’t need the positions filled and the vacancies were obviously advertised prior to the delay being announced. If I remember correctly I’m sure the projected start time for ilford / gidea Park was feb/March 2019.
Not sure how much of this is true but I was told that even if the line isn't in operational mtr still made a promise to tfl in regards to how much staff they will have. They signed a contract that they will have this many drivers/gateline staff and they need to show they have done it. Also I've heard they need a lot of drivers for testing for the central signalling.
I started in july and half the people in that course were trainee train drivers. Seems like there's a course every month.
Maybe things have changed since the project had gone overbudget

Thinking ahead to future, does anybody reckon MTR will want there own Depot Drivers in the future? Or will any depot work just be carried out By fully qualified drivers? Just thinking about potential job opportunities in the future
