My advice would be to go to the earliest one and also go for the other. I sat for gtr and had email saying that I had to pick who I wanted to apply for but after getting a line manager interview for gtr I received an email fro mm crossrail inviting me to one too. Go for both.
Hi everybody I'm new to this forum,I'm at stage 5 at the moment ive been invited to go to assessment centre on the 15th April near Liverpool street,has anybody else been there yet and had the various different tests?if you have could you pass on some info that would be great?ie what tests you sat on the day?

Have MTR/The OPC given anyone else a time for the phone interview and then not rung them?
Hi mate I haven't heard of them not ringing when they said they will.but you never know they make mistakes as well I would give them a call to find out...good luck

Did anyone apply for this who had already successfully completed the RSSB Train Driver Assessment?
If so, was this acknowledged and did it allow you to bypass the assessment stage, or are you required to take the assessments with Crossrail as well?

December starts so I was told, already recruited around 8 drivers due to start before December.
Nearly 4000 have applied for trainee vacancies and if you don't live within the stated distance your automatically rejected.

Around 90% of all drivers for crossrail will start off as a trainee.

Interesting I was under the impression it would be a May or June start...So who's going to be driving the Liv street to Shenfield route when it opens, current Anglia drivers? I thought most weren't moving over.

Hi all,
I sat my VSE test last night, and got as far as Stage 3, question 140 when the test appeared to be finished, and a spinning wheel appeared in the top left of the window. It seems the website froze.
I tested my internet connection which was working fine, then after a few minutes decided to refresh the page which in turn, went back to question 138, which I completed and continued till question 140 when it froze again. I tried this a couple more times then decided there must be an issue with the server and shut the test down.
Is this common? If the website was faulty would I be eligible to re-sit the test?

When you get a sjt with multiple answers, always think of, which answer is most helpful, to the least helpful.
Not helpful in your terms, but if were a company, what would you like to see from your employees

Hi, whoever said they turn down people straight away is wrong.
If i remember correctly, there is nowhere on the application that says "willing to relocate" or anything similar...I live farther than 40 mins, (but will relocate if I get the job) and got through the initial paper sift.
Thanks EazyGuy, I'll start the application tonight. I might just have to put my footdown on the pedal, shave off 10 minutes.

It does ask the question, do you live within 40 minutes of depot? on stage two, might it be the case this contributes to the score for that stage so putting no you will be penalised, did anyone answer 'yes' to that question even though they obviously wouldn't actually relocate unless in receipt of a job offer.

The 40 minutes rule is a part of the railway fatigue regulations due to the job being a safety critical role. Not sure about the relocation bit but you have to live within 40 mins of your depot
Is it actually a regulation, or is it a policy or guidance which allows for some discretion?

I have done my stage 3 visual test and i think i did well on task 1 where you have to follow the track
on task 2 where you have to match symbol I had couple wrong in that
on task 3 i had 2 wrong on primary and 6 wrong on secondary which was the symbol one.
Also just done the sjt. too much reading. there is 25 sjt with four questions on each.
I could only manage to do 20 sjt means I couldnt answer 20 questions due to less time.
can any one please share that result who has cleared the stage 3 with mtr crossrail.
i would really appreciate if some one could reply

Just a quick questions, does anyone know how long the training period is for new Trainee Train Drivers?
I'm worried about how long I can survive a £20K pay cut during training. I'm at Stage 5 but remaining positive that I'll get through. I'll need to relocate and tighten my belt!
Also, do they work a 4 or 5 day week (I realise there will be long weeks and short weeks and the hours are spread out over a month).Do they include Sunday working or is it covered with RDW?

It depends on how quick you can get an instructor and get the required driving hours in.Id say it's anything from Ten months to a year.I started my driving hours through the summer and struggled to get the night time driving in.
