Two for you.
I don't know what it means but the totem pole outside Kirkham and Wesham has had the same red and grey logo since I was a kid so I'm guessing it's from BR days. See attached.

And on the line between Preston and Fleetwood there are a some old crossings with stones saying "PWR", I know one of them is in plain view to the public. These apparently date from the original line opening. So 1870's? Do these count?

That's Arriva Trains Northern. There's plenty of them still knocking about at the local stations around here.

No, that's Network NorthWest (which became North Western Trains upon privatization, and later First North Western, before being split between Northern and TPX in 2004). Kirkham and Wesham's never been run by ATN—it's in the wrong part of the country for a start.

Ah thought it was that, all I remember were pacers in grey, red and white from that era.

Indeed it is. There are few bits still to be seen. This was at Wigan Wallgate earlier this year.

Around 1996/7 there was a big DUNFERMLINE LOWER enamel sign dumped in the goods yard at Ladybank. (right hand side, heading North)

Passed it every day on my way to Uni and tried to convince my dad ( an Ex railwayman) to go and "rescue" it!

Never happened though. Was bent (folded in half) and buckled but would be worth a few shillings.

Wonder if it is still there?

On a wall at York, near to Platform 1, behind the car park payment machines.

Oooh first post on the app on my new iPad xD at Tottenham Court Road, the maps as you arrive on the Central line platforms show "British Rail" and also interchange with the Metropolitan line at Mile End (no Hammersmith and City line ofc), and no W&C at Bank either, or DLR I believe. If you look at the bottom you cab see where tape has been used to cover up the Ongar section of the line. (oh and no Jubilee line at Stratford, and obviously no overground at all, or British Rail at Shepherds Bush)

That's quite surprising, considering how meticulous TfL has been with temporarily removing the Northern line's interchange with TCR everywhere else. Does it show Holborn for the Aldwych branch?

That was the Piccadilly Line. I assume he's talking about the maps on the wall opposite the platform.

No it's as you arrive at the foot of the stairs with the platforms on each side of you, and there is a map eastbound and one westbound. AFAIK, no reference was made to the Aldwych Branch at the Piccadilly interchange, but it wouldn't surprise me. I was surprised to see the effort they've gone to regarding the Northern Line at TCR, even the maps on the new S8 for the Met show the situation.

My point was that it's a line map and not a network map, and therefore would never have shown the Aldwych branch, simply a connection with the Piccadiily Line.

But Holborn is the interchange for the Aldwych branch, and it's on the Central line strip maps, so I'd've thought they would have mentioned that.

Yes, but the Aldwych branch is on a different line. It wouldn't be shown a Central Line strip map.

I know of a sign which was out of date (by years) the day it was put up!
At Portchester in Hamphire the platforms are above street level, so are entered by using stairs on the Up platform (for Southampton/Waterloo services).
The line through Portchester was electrified in the late 1980's by NSE as part of the Solent scheme Southampton, Eastleigh and Portsmouth. Two local services where combined which resulted in through trains from Portsmouth to Wareham via Southampton. A sign at Portchester showed these services, about 10 years ago, the weather and the local yobs, had meant that it was near unreable, so a new sign was required. So a local manager had a new sign made, the only thing different was the SWT branding in place of NSE, inspite of the fact that through services to Wareham only lasted about 2 Years. The Local staff had informed said manager that the sign needed rewording but where ignored!

There was still a sign outside Watford West station on the Croxley Green branch just over a year ago. The line shut in the late 80's (?) iirc.

Yeah, But I do believe it said "Piccadilly" and "Piccadilly-Aldwych Branch"

Not the *most* by a long shot, but...

(at Harrow and Wealdstone, also notice the sticker at the bottom covering up the Silverlink branding! These stickers are being peeled off all over the station however)
