Most beautiful Station

Which - in your opinion - is the most beautiful station?

I've never been there, but to my mind Wemyss Bay is certainly a contender for the most beautiful and most interesting. An old Caledonian Railway Station too.

A rural station with it's original building and some station flowers.

Large Station? St. Pancras.

I have never been there either. But from the pictures, Wemyss Bay would take some beating!

Otherwise, I think Paddington is superb, as is Bournemouth.

Its hard to pick, Paddington and York are nice, but Wemyss Bay certainly looks nice from the pictures! Will have to check it out if i'm ever in the area!

In spite of the fact that it's the station I use most often, I'd never considered it before. I'm also a big fan of Bournemouth station. Excellent architecture.

I really love a lot of old preserved stations. Not so much for the fact that they're quite quaint, but just that some of them blend into and compliment their settings so very well.

I actually wanted them to knock down Bomo. I submitted a design for a new station years ago with shops overhead and 3 large pyramidical skylights to let in light. Round the edges of these there were balconies where people could look down on the trains.

Integrated - covered transport interchange. Extra platform in the centre and 2 tier parking. The cost would have been borne by the shopping centre.

Wemyss Bay really does look nice and is obviously kept up to a good standard but Pickering has always looked great in my opinion. I know it is served by the NYMR but I never saw any rules about what type of stations could be submitted.

Well - I thought that there is room for one - access down from the bridge and up from't subway. One side would probably have to be fenced as it would be too close to the other track.

There is room for one, there used to be two central tracks through there so I'd say there is enough room.

I would be an issue if they brought back the Wessies in that situation... the jumper connection would require the lucky person to stand near live rail... gotta love the HSE.

You've got to knock out those metal platforms in the middle too.

Just stick by the ROTP and have the Signalman put them in the appropriate platform (jumpers platform side).

Anyway - won't be needed when we run permanent 10 car Pigs

I think Ropley, a good old fashioned country station with an engine shed and sidings. Well maintained and interesting scenary, neatly pruned flowers and cut bushes. Something that caught my eye was the interesting improvisation of a flower pot but with a merchant navy chimney, well reflected on two of its particular locos, giving it that extra feel.

Always think Aviemore takes some beating. Never a bad place to fester with that backdrop...

Weymss Bay is certainly impressive, always a quick turnaround on the 303s though.

Wouldn't it be easier to 'stretch' the country Platform 3 across to where your new platform is, and just insert a bay in the middle? Make sure its long enough for a 5-car SV though.

Can't stretch 3 across - otherwise you'd cut the road to Poole/Weymouth. Could make the new road a terminator and have a wider platform down the country end. Still have an access problem for the disabled buggy and catering trucks though.

Make an ideal Virgin dedicated platform, although I did see a rare 10 car Voyager in operation yesterday.
