Is there any site that's good in particular for foreign mileage? (I.e one place for it all).
Unfortunately not.
Or is it a case of finding bits of info about miles here and there, books and online, depending on the location?
Correct, if you want anywhere in particular just ask - I am sure that someone will provide an answer. I am quite happy to help but don't expect a quick reply for the next week and a half as I am abroad at present.

Currently in Koper, Slovenia and, yes, there is a book for this country :)

Thanks for the reply. I had a feeling that was the case - a gap in the market!

I was wondering what the mileage was from Beijing to Dandong and from Dandong to Pyongyang. Different places give different/rough estimates. I suspect the second bit might not be known accurately by anyone. I'm envious at Slovenia!

Which trains did you use?

I haven't used them yet, but I'm booking it soon. No worries now, I've found the mileage for the sleeper from Beijing to Dandong (703 miles) and managed to work out the mileage from Dandong to Pyongyang (140 miles - based on it taking 3h45 at 60km/h on average, 4h30 at 50km/h and 4h54 at 46km/h). Although if someone finds otherwise, please do say.

Broke through 5,000 miles in the last week or so thanks to 500+ miles on trips to London and Crewe, looking forward to going past 6k next week on the Highland Chieftain.

After a bumper 4 days on a FoNE, it sees my June total (sadly probably all I will get in June) 1,638 miles

Overall total is now 7,435 miles which is only about 500 miles off my overall 2013 total!

I've still a stack of bookwork to do from the epic London bash, let alone earlier trips this year (I believe I've got as far as 7th April for logging my mileages, so nearly 3 months behind!), not to mention a trip report from the epic London bash (I've hopefully got a slightly amusing trip title for it, don't worry) to write, a mega-ton of observations to process from the epic London bash and plenty of posts to still catch up on yet. Taken me forever to get slightly into the latter, time to pump up the volume and get 'Tech's Pumped Up Playlist' going on <D:D

However, as a preliminary guess, I should be only around 1,000 miles behind my planned target (average of 1,000 miles per month, that'll just about make up for the issues 2012 and 2013 caused), not including wherever I go on 30th June, so I'm looking at around 5,000 miles so far in 2014.

I haven't processed any of my recent trips; which include a 7 Day FoNE, a trip to London and another one to Weymouth!

Glad to see that I am not the only one who is a little behind, have just enjoyed a fantastic two weeks away but now comes the hard part of translating my scribbled moves and working all the distances out!

Hope your ALR is a good time! Good to hear it was a great trip away 33056 :)

I've just spent a fair bit of time adding the majority of my April moves to RailMiles, couldn't believe how long that took (around 45 minutes), and I still have a lot of moves from May to add yet. I'd forgotten how many moves I did on my Thames Valley bash for instance, so I'll still be busy for a good while yet. Way too tired to keep going tonight!

Anyway, until I add the May and June moves, I am currently on 4,319 miles and 56 chains. I'm very pleased with that number, which well cleared the target of having an average of 1,000 miles per month by the end of 2014. I might even have managed to overtake my expected targets by the end of the month, which will be extremely pleasing!

Bring on Monday's bash, which may have to be a long distance one just to get the mileage up! <D

Finally totalled up the mileage from my various trips in London at the start of the month, so upto 16300 miles, with a trip to North Wales coming up which should add a further ~ 700 miles.

I'm happy with that, although sadly some of that will be on Virgin Voyagers :(

Around 3 times as much as me then!

I've just finished updating my RailMiles page finally, I'm currently on 5,414. Not too bad for a part-time crank (not by choice, I must add!), especially considering that's from 17th February to 16th June :)

I'm due out tomorrow, although it's going to be a fairly low mileage day due to financial issues caused by others. Nevertheless, I should be adding a bit to that. Roughly, I'm going to be between 400 and 500 miles off my target for this year, so not great but if I revise that to an average of 1,000 miles per month I've actually been on trains that's not too bad at all!

I was very surprised with that Voyager yesterday, I was expecting it to be like the XC Voyagers with 2 tables per car, but (car D) was like the Chiltern Silver Mk3 style, tables lined up with the windows with a few airline seats at the ends.

738 miles covered yesterday going to/from Holyhead with the Blaenau Ffestiniog line thrown in for good measure, taking my June total to ~ 3082 miles, my first monthly decrease of the year (although that was probably going to be expected after May's Scotland holiday). 17039 covered so far this year.

Rather good for leisure only

Hadn't realised I hadn't updated this for a while. Up to 12295 for the year which was boosted by four days of action last week which saw me cover 1879 miles. 1238 of that was behind locos (from two 47s, a 57, a 60 and a handful of 90s). If you include an HST in the mix it was up to 1496 miles! Apart from the odd Devon ranger or Ride Cornwall, the next major planned outing is 'The Cardigan Bay Express' but i'm not sure i can wait that long! Will have to see what I can do.

I'm now up to 6368mi 47ch for the year so far.

Only managed one big trip in June - an Anglia Plus day rover to get the 47s.

Nothing really planned for July at this stage, but should still be on target to get 10,000 by the end of the year. Got some more lines in Anglia and the North West to finish, and maybe the South West of Wales too.

For some reason, Hornbeam Park appears to be missing from Railmiles...

103 miles on a tram on T68 Tour Day! My goodness; that's far too much!!!

The FoNE in total yielded a whopping 2666 miles (sans York - Hornbeam Park and back!).

^ Excellent, thank ye very much! Another quick question; has the new alignment at Pudding Mill Lane on the DLR changed the figure... ?

Thanks

Is Neilston Turnback siding the single track immediately to the West of the station?

If so Neilston to the Buffer Stops is 14 chains.
