My first mileage of 2012 will come next Friday when I head to London for the Concrete Cow railtour on Saturday. Should put a good few hundred miles on the board. By then it will have been almost a month since I've been on a train

2 weeks tomorrow since I last went on a train and it feels like forever! I'm also on the tour on Saturday, coach K I believe. Hope to get a chance to meet up, even if only for a bit :)

Are you coming far for it matt? I've looked up the routing and after adding it up in railmiles, the total tour miles should be about 150 miles. I searched for Paddington to Euston via Southall, Brentford, Southall, Hanwell, West Drayton, Colnbrook BAA Logistics, Hayes, Acton Canal Wharf, Wolverton and got 137m 69ch, so add a little bit more for the works, flyover etc it's around 150 miles...less that I would have expected but it is a short day.

£44 for around 150 ain't bad I suppose. Spending more than that on Advances to/from the tour (I hope 2 hours and 2 minutes turns out to be way more than I need to get from Euston to Paddington, and that the +5 at Newport is sufficient...), Travelcards and singles to/from Slough for the Travelodge stop, not to mention bus fares.

In the meantime I hope 66007, 66066, 66068, 66135, 66200 and 66232 stay well clear of this tour!

Can't argue with the price, it is an interesting tour even if it is a short day - my only dilemma will be to get off at Bletchley (closer to home but will need to buy a ticket) or go on to Euston (more mileage and can get home for free )

As its an early finish go to London although it depends if you are in a hurry to get home or not.

No real rush to get home, just me being too lazy to bother sorting a ticket out in advance and being too tight to pay the small amount it would cost

Mind you, have just looked it up and it is a two hour difference in the getting home time so might have to go and mither my local booking office later in the week after all!

I had also considered bailing at Bletchley on the return as it's considerably closer to home than London, but I've already booked onto the 1915 off Paddington to go home via Newport, and doubt the Bletchley to Hereford single would have been less than £15. Plus the tour would be less value for money, and quite frankly I doubt I'll want to do more 350 mileage after going all that way from New Street to the other end of the route on Friday...

Added a whole 46 chains today between Manors and Newcastle, and funnily enough was on 142094 as well.

Just worked it out for myself.

From earlier in Jan in total 627 miles so far.

564 of those in Super Voyagers.
63 or so on 334's

Also another note 221109 Marco Polo seems to be stalking me so far this year.

Might modify my overnighter on the 17th to mark off Luton station now its getting to reasonable temperatures...to the point of not really needing a coat !

But still looking at doing a few returns to Bedford at night to roll my miles up overnight. I like tours from Manchester/Leeds/London as I can roll up the miles non stop!
For the 37 tour in March, got to decide weather to get a Travelodge at Crewe or get off a train that gets there at silly O'clock and have a short wait there. The last one I believe is 0100, but I don't think the lowland sleeper calls at Crewe, but I think the Highland one does, must look that up!

The Down Highland is due off Crewe at 2354 (unless it's changed since August), 0508-ish for The Up Highland. Down Lowland races through at gone 0300 from memory, probably about the same for the Up.

I'm currently on 2950 miles. The table must be due to go up as you can enter your mileage into your settings now.

First points on the board for me. I haven't worked it out yet but I'd say roughly 550. I'll work it out properly tomorrow.

I've finally added my mileage for the two day bash this week, my eyes popped out of my head when I saw how much it had flown up! 909 miles now, extremely happy with that! Now where's the table...

I totted up this weeks projected mileage, and it stands at a sizeable 1,093 miles. Will almost certainly get it all too. All work though, doesn't count :( Fairly average week too, no travelling pass for 2 or 300 miles Sunday/Saturday at beginning and end of week.

Standing at 882 miles at the end of January.

Higher than this time last year, but should have been more (still annoyed about losing my first London trip of the year!). <(

Ended the month with 3,023 miles (a quiet month compared to the last two years). However, February will start with a bang; will be setting off later on with a 15 day InterRail and aiming for at least 4,000 miles before I get back to the UK - might well be more though I prefer to work on the "quality rather than quantity" theory

January was a pretty poor month for me, but this month has got off to a better start with a trip to Chichester today bringing the total up to 386 miles.

Well, I think it's alright, anyway.

I ended Jan on 3250 miles. Not as many as the same stage last year but pretty pleased with that.

I'll be lucky to be in the top 50 at this rate!  Not on a bash again until next weekend, with nowt planned after that but I do have my eye on an All Wales bash this month. Whether it happens or not I don't know, still overloaded with work at the moment!

775 miles so far this year. not too bad with mostly tripping between exeter and newton abbot. Highlight of the month was EMT 43052 on a XC sevice and managed this exeter to taunton.

Greetings from Erfurt in Germany, going quite well in the mileage stakes at the moment having added some 1,500 miles in the last four days. Will slow down a bit tomorrow due to some dubious kettle move, at least the railways are still largely running over here despite the extreme cold and snow on higher ground (it was minus 13 in Zurich this morning!)

Upto 4238m 78ch now, Feb's kick off bash is in the trip report section.
Next bash is Friday 10th with a trip to London then on an overnighter before doing the Angel of Bedlam tour on the Saturday. Might end up with another 1,000 miles after that including the overnight moves
