Afraid not - the downtime is largely dependent on my personal schedule. If the best time for it to be done is over the new year then it will have to be done over the new year or it simply won't get done until the summer.

(didn't send this by PM but it's relevant...) To add to that, it's a one man band and no-one else has the time nor patience to be dealing with it. I have an extremely heavy coursework schedule at Uni which eats most of my time, to add to that I'm losing interest in dealing with it too - this will probably be the last update to it ever, but it'll be a good one.

Of cause, if thats the only place you can fit it, then so be it

I have not managed that many in 30 odd years!

1000 miles in one day is actually quite easy (provided you can afford the fare) - dep Euston 0539, arr Glasgow Central 1031, hour in Glasgow, dep Glasgow 1140, arr back in Euston 1603. Over 800 miles covered and almost 8 hours left to cover the remaining 200 miles.

Couple of runs to Ashford on HS1 should take you just over the 1,000 mark.

Thanks for the reminder, personally for the Weardale bit I'll probably use the Quail and I might just under-claim for the 03 at Shildon. Depends how soon the details are unveiled.

Jumped up to 15,880 miles now after a rather big bit of bashing over 4 days very recently. Not far off that 16,000 miles target at all, but unfortunately I have no plans for any bashes now for the remainder of the year. Too skint to do much too, unless I raid my savings but I don't fancy that somehow, as I'm saving for an ALR in 2012.

First time? You've been ahead of me for flipping ages ol' boy! You've definitely won this year, I've got approximately nothing lined up for the rest of 2011. That target of 16,000 has to be beat somehow though, even a round trip to Birmingham International would do the trick. Hmm, I like that idea. Might even do another Chiltern ranger on a Sunday and spend as little as possible!

I'm desperately trying to finish the year with a good bash, but for the first time in ages I didn't use any of my 3 days off (I don't remember the last time I had three days off in a row) going on a bash! Hoping to make it a really good one sometime after payday next week, I fancy using up my last free FCC tickets and going on a marathon 319 bash.

In the meantime, I can't wait for Christmas to arrive and disappear, 2012 is finally nearly here and for the first couple of weeks I'll have a chance at being at the top of the table!

You must PM me details, I'd love to know how that works! As for my own plans for 2012, I don't see me managing much above the amount I'm currently on. Got to get on RailMiles and update my totals with the mileage figures for the Weardale and Shildon bash, plus a few other little bits, but I won't get much at all this year above what I'm on. Still no plans for the rest of the year, but it's 5 days until payday...

Final update from me for 2011. With work commitments from now until new year I will not be out now. Finished on 31459. Which was more than double my 2010 total. I'm pretty sure next year I will not beat this years figure though!

You mean me and heart-of-wessex? Well, I suppose an answer to your question could be that I got super jealous of his mileage earlier in the year (or was that in 2010, I can't quite remember now) when he started beating me. Immediately when I found I was around 80 miles behind (from memory at least, the actual amount may have been different) I started flapping and planning a bash! A more definitive answer could be that we've been competing over different things for years. No doubt he'll be able to tell you about how I got him to come to Swansea once just to see 43009 to win a bet

Fortunately, these days we are much less competitive but it's always interesting to see which of us is ahead!

There's no doubt I could do it but a lot of it was for route coverage and I have managed a lot for haulage and sight this year. I have found myself going out less as I have managed to get nearly everything down here in Devon (or what could come here) and when I do I have to go further which costs more.

I have one thing planned in the new year so far, a Freedom of the North East. I have some other days set asside for something (not sure what yet) but as more and more route is covered I am concentrating on hunting down things for sight and haulage.
