Well managed to work out my milage to date 29/07/2011 exclding heritage miles it has come to 28,372 so far i have lost a few miles over six weeks or so throgh being in Hospital but theres pleanty of time to catch up.

I finally got a chance to update my RailMiles account with the moves on my ALR last week. The 5,000 miles target was looking a bit hard to reach at times, but I cleared it by 133 miles in the end. Grand total for the year now?

10,293 miles and 29 chains! Well over my 10,000 miles target for 2011 and with 4 months to go!

I have been updating my mileage after a trip to London yesterday however, cannot get the mileage for the Piccadilly line Heathrow loop from T4 to T1,2,3.

RailMiles keeps wanting to send me back to Hatton Cross to do the journey even though it is a one way loop :roll:

Can anybody help with this?

If you tick the box that says "3 mile rule" then it should come up with both the shortest route via Hatton Cross and the slightly longer one around the loop.

It is indeed 2mi 57ch.

I have never ticked that box before as wasn't sure what it would do!

Just tried it for RUG-WFJ and it gave me 3 routes including one through DIRFT!

RUG-EUS is even better as it gave me 10 different routings hock:

The "3 mile rule" is used for determining shortest routes. The National Routeing Guide defines that the shortest route between the origin and the destination on an Any Permitted ticket and anything no more than 3 miles longer are always permitted routes, without the need to consult the maps.

This is normally referred to as the "3 mile rule". Of course the mileages given by railmiles can only be used for reference. The definitive mileages are defined by the National Rail Timetable.

I have just spent 90 minutes trying to trace notes that I write on random bits of paper to get together my mileages. I started off this year updating it every night, but I haven't touched it since March, ergo there may be a jump to 15,000 miles or so quite soon. I will link to my document if I can.

After further investigation, the above mentioned issue has been resolved and railmiles will now route an enquiry via the correct route in the correct direction.

Furthermore if anyone finds any similar error, please get in touch with Tom Cairns via email so that he will look into it.

Still having issues with the Mileage Engine refusing to tell me what the mileage is between Shepreth (Cambs) and Peterborough via Stevenage.

I can't find any email addresses to let the site owner aware of this - does anyone know what that mileage is by the way?

It would seem that Shepreth is not in the engine as if you do Meldreth - Cambridge then it goes Meldreth, Foxton, etc.

But Shepreth comes up as a station, will fire off a email though.

The NRT (Table 25) lists Shepreth to Stevenage as 22.25, and Stevenage to Peterborough as 48.75. Therefore the total is 71.

Guess I should update that I've now done 6k miles (6091 to be exact) according to RailMiles - but in reality I've likely done more like 6.6-6.7k as I've done a few long distance journeys I never bothered to put in because I forgot the times or unit numbers/whatever!

Just under 4k now, with a majority on Super Voyagers, followed by Pendo's & then 334's.

There was somebody who had done over 100,000 miles at the top of the board though they had been removed before I could get round to querying the figure (too busy adding the distances up from my recent trip; a task that is still ongoing though it is now mostly down to tidying up loose ends)

Thats right and it was someone called "Monkeypuzzle" with 106+ thousand miles.
