How the heck others have managed 10,000+ miles already is beyond me, but I salute you.

Easy, go to Germany.....300 miles a day easily without pushing it; 600 if you do , Oh....and a few miles to get there via Eurostar.

(not to mention 60+ miles most days that I go to work)

its is surprising how quick it adds up. But likewise if anyone would like to see my spreadsheets more than happy to supply them. Once i have upgraded it looking to put on Google docs

Well so far this year i have done 2 Freedom of South West, Freedom of the north west and one rail tour. I have records of all my moves too. In fact many of my moves are identical to D1015fan on a Devon ranger! Been a few days where i planned stuff but couldn't go out. Future plans include trip to London, another rail tour and another fosw in may. Living in Plymouth also means I rack up miles getting out of Devon in the first place.

I did look into using Google docs but it would mean having to do a lot of re-formatting of my Excel spreadsheets. Also, I would prefer to keep details of my regular journeys away from the public domain (yeah, I'm paranoid ).

Might consider putting a copy of the master sheet of daily totals on there if it does not involve too much fiddling around.

Yes me and noddy1878 do a lot of similar moves and generally out at the same time and on the same railtour. Although my Virgin FL 90's made up for his FONW

never used google docs so not sure how much hassel it is. Although all my move are posted on my blog (linked below) and you'll see how it adds up especially not being a comutter.

Another 136m 50 chains on today's total with a run to bodmin for the Steam Gala.

I think the only fair way of declaring a winner in this comp is to ask for all tickets to be produced of the journeys made.

Ticket gates, season tickets, travelcards, passes, it's impossible to do that. The best you can do is keep records (in Word/Excel) and add it up from there. The numbers make it quite easy to tell who is truthful and who isn't: for example, 24,657 is a lot more viable than 25,000.

I keep an accurate and up to date excel spreadsheet of all my haulage as well as updating all moves on my blog on a tri-by-trip basis.

I have a simple rule with haulage winners for haulage first mileage accumulation second. hence why some units have stupidly small haulage and some dud hsts have 200 miles +. My commitment is to having fun, seeing new places and meeting new people.

I keep a spreadsheet of all my trips which includes loco/unit numbers if I have them - do not always write them down although note types.

Perhaps I have a bit of an advantage as I am retired and have plenty of time on my hands but also as an ex railwayman (fairly senior) I have a lot of free travel and sometimes make the most of it.

I find this 'Mileage' subject fascinating, I don't do it myself, but I can certainly see the attraction, perhaps as Trainspotting (great days they were) fell by the wayside, mainly through lack of 'trains' to spot (or was it age??), good stuff for those who enjoy this ...and can afford lots of rail travel these days!

lol. true. most of mine is made up from a 8 in 15 day fosw which for £95 every now and again is a cheap way and devon rangers coupled with some reasonbly cheap trips to london town

I would like to add mine but I don't separate work mileage from recreational mileage.
13422.53 is the current combined, and yes I know it doesn't count !!
Just as an aside, obviously most of my working life for the last 10 years or so has been on Voyagers. I decided when I started with Virgin I would keep a record of Voyager mileage just as I thought it would be interesting to see just how much I would accumulate.
Well it currently stands at 397846.51 !!

Does anyone know the milage for 1) St Pancras to Ashford International via HS1? (I can't seem to make railmiles calculate the route via HS1) and 2) For Kings Cross St Pancras Underground to Green Park via Victoria Line? (I can't find Kings Cross Underground on railmiles and I've tried all sorts of combinations).
