A quick look on google reveals Nottingham distances can be found at http://www.nettrams.net/Infrastructure/DistanceF.htm - though you will have to convert them from metres to miles!

That does tube miles. Don't know about trams though, haven't tried it for that, nor have I tried it for DLR.

DLR distances are in Quail, but beware that they are shown as distances between stations so will need adding up, they are also metric. When you have the total journey in kms, divide by 0.6214 to get miles, though the result will be "decimal" and will have to be converted if you want chains.

P7 isn't exactly bad for a student living on campus, is it? Based on the current table I reckon P5 is do-able, but above that looks tough. Bristol TM to New St. this Saturday, probably another run to Cardiff on either Thursday or Saturday, they'll add nearly 300mi; but... I know my target is Top 5 but I just wonder whether I could push Gordon et al. and go for the title, especially if I do buy an ALR in June... Heaven forbid, I think a Severn Beach Line Season Ticket - i.e. Pacer Hell - might be in order.

By the way, does anyone above me not commute? I'd like to think I can win if you discount those that do (hence my asking before).

After todays latest spin around West Yorkshire now well past the 1000 mark.

Even got to the least used station station in the county, Pontefract Baghill of 4 trains a day fame.

I am away from home working on a laptop compooter and the mileage calculator isnt working for me, tried 2 laptops and nothing works up here, even the CORE one, but they both work on the desktop when at home so I assume it is a setting somewhere but dont want to mess things up, anyone got an idea what is wrong, in english (and short words ) please cos I aint good on compooters :roll:, cheers in advanced guys.

I've decided to "have a bash" at the competition ....

After the GM bash and a random trip out today, I stand at 534 miles and 15 chains so far.

Got several huge days out planned which will see me easily pass the 2000 mile mark (possibly 3000 miles as well), so be warned, I'm not here to make up the numbers!

Latest update for me after an extreme bit of mileage in 2 days is 2,003.66. 531.12 of which was on premier power

Ivo isn't giving up after all!

He will be undertaking a 29-hour run on February 18/19, taking in over 1,000mi and for a total cost of around £72 (actual run subject to Advance ticket fluctuations).

...Don't ask why this is in the third-person.

Current mileage, as at the end of January: 1,297mi.

I do have to ask if this kind of competition (Assuming it's always run as an actual competition, and not simply a comparison of distance by user) is really fair, given that everyone's circumstances are different from others.

It seems that a core few of us seem to have access to both obscene amounts of free time (Unlike those in employment or intense study) and excellent Priv/inside ticketing options (Not available to gen public) and that lot are always able to push their mileage well above the rest of us...So how's about dividing the competition between Regular rail users and Full-on bashers?

As an example: I could happily endure and cover well over 1,200+ miles each day for a year without breaking a sweat (Thus my annual mileage should be around the 465,375mi 40ch mark) and indeed the only two things that stop me from actually hitting that target are:

1. Available funds / lack of bash-friendly concessions, and
2. The fact that - Though I like Pendos quite a bit - I don't think I would enjoy spending every single hour of a year on one! hock:

If no adjustment is made to balance the competition out to make it fair for everyone though, I may well start counting my MSTS mileage in addition to my real mileage... :razz:

In the meantime though, I took my first rail journey for 2010CE yesterday, so I'm at least off zero now. I havn't got the exact distance to hand right now, but I'll chalk myself up 300mi 00ch provisionally (FNB > WAT / MYB > BMO / BHM > DBY) and correct it later on.

Quite agree, its just for the fun of it and is quite interesting to see what other people have done, I really doubt anyone is going to make up trips they have done, just for the sake of being top of a leaderboard, if they do its pretty sad.

I get 22 miles every week day through going to work and back, and usually go out somewhere on a Saturday otherwise I get bored very easily - it's all good fun!
