Hmmm....after speaking to some other members, I've decided that preserved miles don't count. Most of us aren't counting them, and quite a few members would have a huge advantage as they spend alot of time helping out at preserved railways.
Kill mine then, I've no interest in seperating pres from non-pres and don't do anything on the mainline for mileage.
Don't really see how it is a huge advantage given that available mileage per trip/day is much much lower though!! :???:

I'll stop being mean to you Gizmogle, once you correct my position in the table, to 12th, as you've correctly re-adjusted my mileage, but it still appears to be worth less than Alex's mileage of 5 less ;)

Voyager miles aren't worth as much as normal ones...

Gizmogle: Has it been a hot day? Really?!!?!! So that's why I didn't need a coat when I went out today... ;)

Craig: I hope not.. otherwise i'm stuffed! Do FC miles get multiplied by 1.5, just like they do against SC fares?

:p

But one would seem better off getting 1,000 miles in on Voyagers than doing the same on preserved lines, since non-NR mileage no longer counts!

I'm sorry, but I do NOT agree with that. If you choose to work on a preserved line, thus not mounting up mileage on galas, that's your choice. Commuting mileage is countable, it appears, but not miles done behind, say, 37037, 20110, 20118, D7612...I cannot see any sense in that.

Hell, whilst we're at it, let's discount any mileage done for commuting purposes. Let's also not count a journey that is less than 5 miles in length...

Does this then mean my mileage between Norton Fitzwarren and Minehead and return on the HST not count?

I say it's left the way it was.

Techniquest, I'd like to simply refer you to an earlier posting by DJW1981, which to save myself typing the same to you:

You don't have to moan about it.

It is a voluntary 'competition' and one of the organiser's rules is that you must do your own maths. So if you want to be in the competition, you have to abide by the rules.

In which case, voyagerdude220, I can't be bothered. Feel free to leave my mileage as it is. I can't be bothered to compete in any sort of competition which goes against those who support the preservation movement.

Railtours and such count. Just not mileage on preserved railways. Me, and quite a few other members aren't counting them. They aren't in CORE. Many people don't know how many miles preserved lines are.

Really it should be anything that you can work out on CORE. Including tube, metro and trams.

Just want to make it fair and give everyone an equal chance.

What about preserved running on NR lines?

Does my MEGA MENTAL bash from Grosmont to Whitby yesterday count?

Before taking off 43 miles (from the SDR - who said you can't do decent mileage on preserved railways!) from my total, after the trip to Minehead and back yesterday, I have now got 5,535.5 miles in. So taking the SDR bits off, that is 5,492.5 miles.

EDIT: You can't do LUL, tram or whatever on CORE, so those can't count either.

Sorry, I should have said anything you can work out and CORE and also DLR, Tube, trams and metros if you know where to get the mileages. Which I don't. So I don't include them myself.

OK, I did wonder what you meant so I'm glad you cleared that one up.
