Just an update, I heard someone on a train mention this Wednesday would be the day people find out, I have had no response as yet, does anyone know if they let unsuccessful candidates know?

Merseyrail is the last remaining operator to do paper only / emailed-form applications, and can assume they won't reply to the (claimed) 2000+ applicants. That said, putting something on here would help candidates who took the time to apply. :P

hello all my first post as I applied for this job and I got a letter this morning inviting me to the assessment day on 5th May at a Hotel in town.

Currently working on a zero hours contract with luckily 40-50 hrs per week. Does anyone know the starting pay, during training and once passed out and what to expect at the assessment centre? Thanks

Don't forget, it was for a place on the waiting list rather than an actual job, so they may well stagger any assessments over weeks or even months, if there were plenty of applicants.

Its a assessment day, if I get passed that the next stage is OPC exam I heard which I already passed so would just be a case of waiting after OPC exams done than see if got a job offer or not.

No probs. Just wondered if they were doing assessments one week (5/6th May) then interviews the next, but they must be doing assessment days over a couple of weeks.

I thought it was ok, nice staff. Not as intense as I thought it would be, obviously its a hugely competitive process, getting down to the last 100 from 3000. Told we will know by mid to lat May, then have to do OPC at end of May.

Oh that's good ha!! I done it 2 years ago and was 2 interviews and just a lot of wondering round chatting to people and looking at guards stuff.
