Several Merseyrail people have confirmed to me that 507s will be used on the Ormskirk to Hunts Cross service from Monday and that's good enough for me. If 507 usage were not planned, there would be no morning ECS to Hunts Cross from Birkenhead North, outside which a 507 pair is stabled overnight. This ECS is not currently showing beyond the December timetable change.

Leaving units stabled in sidings and only used ad hoc is impractical and crew knowledge could start to become a problem with 507s remaining into December.
Will be great to see the 507s on the Ormskirk line so hopefully that is the case for some.

Only thing I would say is that again yesterday Tim.B mentioned that they would only be ad hoc on all routes and wouldn’t be surprised if this is just a 3 car set.

Seems very confusing but fingers crossed your intel is correct :)

Hi all , I'm very un-knowledgeable about Merseyrail services, however tommorow i'll be going to the area and i'm wondering what services do the 507s operate on Saturdays?. Is it all "as required" working or are they still scheduled?

There should be 3 x 6 cars operating on the Southport - Hunts Cross this Saturday under the diagrams as listed in an earlier post.
This is the final day 3 diagrams are booked to be worked by the 507s, with a timetable change coming from 25th August.

Loosing all diagrams or just not 3?

There are three pairs of 507s out on the Southport to Hunts Cross service today.
507001 + 029, 003 + 018 & 016 + 023

Diagrams should be finished once the 2257 is complete. After that, 507s will only operate to fill in broken down 777s (for what I've heard from people)

Multiple people have been saying that 507s will run on Ormskirks to Hunts Cross with the new timetable being put into place whilst 8 cars run on Central to Southports.

i believe due to this reason it seems likely to have the 2 x 6 car 507 running on Ormskirks for peak times. For Sundays however there will probably be no booked 507 runs since they may not be needed since trains run mostly at 30 minute frequency on all lines

507001 and 029 are working today, starting with 2G10 0803 Southport to Liverpool Central. Everything else is 777s as it currently stands.

Ive been told multiple things, so im not entirely sure what’s happening. However I believe that Sunday Diagrams where replaced a while ago and they’ve only put them back on for extra capacity during summer, they will probaly go back to 777s soon

Can someone tell me how to track 507 movements? I've tried using realtime trains, but either I'm missing something, or the information isn't there

2x3 car sets on Birkenhead North shuttle services due to signal problems on New Brighton line. For those interested catch them while you can :)

I have heard on another forum, 507010 and 507017 has offically been withdrawn from service. Both units I assume should be off to Newport on Monday (2nd Sept.) - no path in RTT as yet.
I do wonder why 507017 was kept at Birkenhead North depot for so long (it has not worked since 25th July), was 017 used as a spare parts donor to other units?

Seems this never came to fruition then.

I believe Merseytravel objected to the plans to do this. It was however very much something that Merseyrail had planned and diagrammed to do.
Yes, there is nothing quite like a decree from on high. Consequently, the network has its lowest number of paired workings at peak times since electrification. The Ormskirk line is back to no extra peak capacity as a result, despite perfectly serviceable units lining sidings across the network.

It's not just enthusiasts who are affected by this ridiculous decision.

Are there any 507s out today?
I saw a post on social media from a passenger complaining about putting a 3 car train out, are they confusing this with a 4 car 777?

Not that I have seen. Anyone know which 507 was sat at Kirkdale today, dunno whether its still there or not.

Why not keep them on the Southport line until Cressington has been sorted and the last few 777 have entered service? Very strange decision.
