Any news on how 016 is doing? Are they actively working on it or is it still left as a dead unit?

One carriage (64432) of previous Merseyrail unit, 507028, made an appearance on BBC North West Tonight last week, reporting on the opening of the new Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service centre in Aintree, Liverpool.
As previously reported on this forum page, two carriages from 507028 were saved for use by this facility, the other being the centre carriage (71369).

The diagrams havn't changed, same 3 diagrams on Southports listed earlier in the thread. They're not expected to change for a couple of months.

507016 and 507018 are currently working 2U30 12:57 Southport to Hunts Cross. They took over from 507007 on this diagram.

12.42 ex Southport is 016 and 018
12.57 ex Southport is 003 and 007
13.12 ex Southport is 023 and 017 (with beastly rheo!) But only showing as 3 car on PIS.

Only 001 not seen - subsequently sighted inside Birkenhead North Depot around 4pm.

010 and 029 had also moved up to New Brighton sidings by this time.

Be weary of Diagram 3 after 1651 off HNX. It stayed at Southport on arrival yesterday. I am not sure if that was for rest of Diagram or if it came out later, I fled the scene about 1930 after everything leaving was new and yellow. Perhaps someone else can help.

I’ve heard off someone that Birkenhead north has ran out of 507 compressors and that they will be using the leftover 508 ones? I can’t really believe this to be true but can someone confirm it? If it’s true I can’t wait to hear that DH25 thump again

Could also mean if a compressor fails it’s the end of that particular unit if true. Can’t be far off an all 777 operation now, especially when 8 cars start properly in the coming weeks

I just hope they have plenty spare, and if not and they do have some DH25s left over, and do install them onto the 507s if necessary

Note, if you are after thrash in 507018, the motors on car 64384, Southport end of unit appear to be cut out. Head to the other one (64422) for entertainment. (Though the noise here is no where near as good as what "84" used to provide)

Covering for a 777, came out around 1530. There are no booked workings on Wirral for 507s.

Ah ok then, any reason in particular the 2 units went back to north? I know 018s 384 is currently off but 016 has been ‘behaving’ for the past week or so

They still have to visit North for routine maintenance/exams aswell as defect repairs when required. Worth noting just because a unit looks to be behaving doesn't mean faults havnt been reported!
