Quite. The exception being I suppose Cressington: the narrow platform extensions (built for Merseyrail in the 1970s) could accommodate 6-car 507/8s. Even if they had been raised in line with the rest of the platforms for the 777s, they are too narrow to safely accommodate wheelchairs etc. As there are still no lifts at the station no wheelchair users are going to show up there normally, but it must be safer to restrict it to four cars. But without access (except in emergency) between the units, passengers bound for Cressington wlll need to be warned to use the front/rear 4 cars only at every station, unless one door in the second unit can open safely. It rather looks as if nobody thought this through until recently.

Yeah both 777s have since been in service and 011 has even been part of the 8 car Southport runs this week

I've got 035 ** departing Wembley 12th June as a single unit on 1831 6Q77 to Walton and 053 on 21st March as a single unit on 0829 5Q79 Walton to Long Marston

** I believe 035 was the one that came over with 555002 & 555021

Yes, that (035 with the two 555s) rings a bell.

I guess there is perhaps a shortage of parts to actually get the last two 777s in service ?.
Its a long time now, almost three months since 053 went from Walton to Long Marston.

No space on the system for 035 and 053 until more 507s went for scrap. 507010/017 were due to go to Newport this morning and 777035/53 are due to be moved to Kirkdale within days.

029 has not really entered service. It was at Southport for ages and had received attention from the local artists. Other people on this thread will know more.

Fingers crossed full 777 service this Autumn.

I couldn't see any allocations recently for 777029 & 777047 in PTS. I don't recall seeing a message on here that 047 is in service yet. Is anyone able to confirm?

Has anyone else noticed that their phone sometimes stutters when on the 777s, me and a couple of friends have experienced it, like there's some kind of interference messing up the touchscreen

Yes! Exactly that. Its worse if I'm charging from the sockets on board, the touchscreen is almost unresponsive then. My phone works perfectly 100% of the time when not on a 777.

What would cause that? And can it easily be fixed?

I wonder, therefore could there be interference the other way round as well leading to 777 failures ?.

The electrical interference that can be heard through the PA speakers when the train is braking would certainly suggest some kind of interference/lack of shielding somewhere in the electrics. This, however, wouldn't cause issues with the capacitive touchscreens found on pretty much all smartphones.

It’s caused by a combination of using a cheap charging cable and a poorly regulated outlet on the train. I’ve never had an issue using my original Apple plug and cable on these units
I doubt very much this has anything to do with the failures

just adding the two cents I have to this. The trains themselves seem ready for SDO - possibly prior to driver training. The PIS has warnings built in for "the front four/rear car only at this station" or "SDO is in operation.. use the middle set of doors". It just seems the actual infrastructure at the stations isn't ready yet, hence the holdup. Either that or they are trying to wait as long as they can so they can put notices up and sufficiently inform passengers about using the front 4 cars for Cressington. (It won't be that though, its merseyrail we are talking about.)
