Avanti is not the only basket case on the network at the moment. Cancellations galore.
My local station is Spital and last week 37 services failed to stop at this and other stations in this section due to late running. This happened on rare occasions in the past, but now any train that is 5+ minutes late runs 'semi fast' as they like to call it. There were also 24 cancellations in the week. This is a dreadful situation for rail users in the Bebington/Bromborough area. We have appointments and mainline connections to make just like those who use the stations deemed more important. Merseyrail have also announced that Chester trains will no longer stop at Green Lane or Bromborough Rake. Passengers have been advised to board Ellesmere Port trains and change at Hooton or use an 'adjacent' station. Adjacant in Merseytravel speak can mean up to 1½ miles away and not necessarily with wheelchair access.
I also noticed that on the Kirkby line earlier this week that trains were cancelled due to 'Overhanging foliage obscuring signals'. If only there was a simple way to rectify the problem.
