Medge Hall Halt

This is probably one for current or former Lincolnshire residents. I've been doing some double-checking and tidy-ups of my Yorkshire Stations map while I'm not working and have the time to devote to it. According to Wikipedia, Medge Hall (and it's associated Halt) are in Lincolnshire, on the former GC route from Thorne South towards Crowle.

However: using the NLS side-by-side map and selecting 1830-1880s county layers suggests that "Midge" Hall is just in Yorkshire, and that the county boundary is along what looks like a drain that crosses Chapel Road, a bit further to the east.

Long shot, perhaps, but... anyone have a clue where the country boundary was?

I do not know the area, but it looks to me as though the county boundary has moved. It use to be further east, crossing the railway on the lane to Pear Tree Farm. It now crosses the line a short way west of the station, roughly where the canal turns from a just south of west direction to a just north of west one. The change possibly dates from the creation of South Yorkshire.

Concur with @Gloster. Former Medge Hall station site now looks to be 1km on the Eastern side of the present day South Yorkshire / Lincolnshire boundary. Back in the day, reckon the station site would have been just in the West Riding of Yorkshire. The old boundary can be seen in the below-linked (fairly detailed) 25 inches to the mile OS map dating from the late 19th century.

Thanks both. If the location would have been in "Yorkshire" on 31 March 1974, it gets included; that's why I've included Greenfield and Delph but excluded Walsden, for example.

Looks like the old county boundary in the area partly followed the course of the Old River Don. Nowadays it looks to follow the line of the Swinefleet Warping Drain (drainage ditch), which was only constructed/completed several years after Medge Hall station was operational. When was Medge Hall get moved into Lincolnshire, if indeed it did? Might not necessarily have been in 1974.

A 1:10,000 map on the NLS site shows the boundary in the old position, i.e. Medge Hall in Yorkshire. This was revised 1966 to 1973 and published in 1973.
