Some TOCs ask for 3 depending on the stock. It varies.

Last trains on Edinburgh- Tweedbank withdrawn to accommodate electrification work, temporarily, although seems like Friday/Saturday departures will still run.

Will almost certainly be accommodated on the overnight sleeper which arrives into Inverness at 08:45 and has previously carried day passengers from Kingussie into Inverness. Also releases that unit for strengthening / creating another service into Inverness in the morning peak.

Crossrail/TfL posters have gone up shouting about ‘more sunday services west of London’… does anyone know what these are? I’ve looked at the linked timetable and nothing seems obvious so am guessing it’s just a handful of extras that allow them to boast about it (but without being specific)?

Is this saying more services on Sunday, or from Sunday? I am not aware of any changes in the new timetable on Sunday, it's pretty much at the limit on a Sunday, but from next Sunday there are increased weekday calls at Acton Mainline, Southall and Hanwell in the Peaks, in the Peak direction. This is from stopping the Terminal 5 to Shenfield services at these stations.

If they can have additional Aberdeen to Montrose local stoppers co existing in the sunday timetable why the need to even consider reducing the Portlethen and Laurencekirk stops on trains to and from Edinburgh and Glasgow unless what Scotrail is looking for is a way to grab headlines about reduced journey times at the expense of direct connections what a joke they are!

Ah, one of mine!
4M96 (Southampton - Birch Coppice) is a particular bugbear for train planning, and the sectional running times are very lacking.

14 minutes timetabled from Goring & Streatley (pass) to Didcot Yard (stop) actually takes 23.
Didcot East -> Didcot Yard takes 10 minutes versus 3 minutes the timing link gives you…

It should be routed on the Up Relief, and then it should work with a shoehorned path in front of 5R14, and following 4O45 and the Kineton MOD flow (which actually ran today!!)

Essentially a half hourly service in the daytime on a Saturday on the North Berwick Line - much enhanced compared to the Monday to Friday timetable. The main improvement that seems desirable for travellers is an earlier Sunday morning start. The 124 East Coast (Lothian) bus, which is the main alternative to the train, is pretty full on arriving in Edinburgh 8 -10am.

A revamp of train timetables comes into effect across the West Midlands this Sunday, with these latest schedules operating until 12 December.
Rail timetables are changed twice a year and passengers are being urged to check the updated schedules before travelling.

For the first time, people will be able to travel directly between Walsall and London Euston on weekdays on London Northwestern Railway.

There will be a direct service each way, one starting from Walsall at 05:46 and the other, the 18:26 Euston to Birmingham New Street, will arrive at Walsall at 21:16.

Under Sunday's new timetable, the company will also have two extra later services between New Street and Liverpool Lime Street on Saturdays.

West Midlands Railway's weekday 05:28 New Street to Lichfield Trent Valley Cross City service will call at more stations and some weekend morning services are being introduced.

CrossCountry Trains will have another PM peak service calling at Crewe on weekdays and the company has also highlighted extra journeys between Reading and Newcastle in the north-east.

Transport for Wales' New Street to north Wales services every two hours, including from Birmingham International, will operate to and from Llandudno Junction, not Holyhead, under the changes.

While Avanti West Coast's new services include the 20:47 New Street to Euston on weekdays.

Have not read all 17 pages of this thread but I am pleased to see the ScotRail Edinburgh to North Berwick service is now going back to somehting like the Saturday service we enjoyed before Covid with 2 trains per hour.

Is there actually a base timetable for the route, or is it affected by engineering works somewhere along its length throughout this summer? You could alter one train and its revised.

What I am looking for is a summary of the engineering works on (e.g.) Avanti to choose a week to go out travelling when it should run without disruptions.

Interesting if it is going to be a regular Sunday feature, I notice they came up from Ayr on the just introduced new earlier Sunday Ayr to Glasgow Central, 0815 departure.

On weekdays/Saturdays, there aren't enough 380s to run 6s to EK.

The 05:55 Gillingham-Cannon St, running all stations via Dartford and Woolwich, has gone from a 6-car Networker to a 5-car 376, according to tomorrow's allocations. Must be the first time in a very long time that a 376 has operated a passenger service from Gillingham. The 6-car Networker now does the 06:45 Gillingham-Victoria, presumably so the 8-car 377 previously doing it is available for the new Gillingham-Blackfriars' peak service.

Made the most of the excellent new GA timetable this afternoon. A London connection of almost every train now to Brundall Gardens (Brundall is even better) from mid afternoon. Plenty of other improvements too on local routes/stations radiating from Norwich.

I don't like to draw conclusions from a sample of one, but this morning the diagram starting 2H07 0618 Cambridge-Liverpool Street has gone up from 5 cars to 10.

This continues 2H10/24/38 0754/1124/1454 Liverpool Street-Cambridge North and 2H21/35 0952/1310 Cambridge North-Liverpool Street.

The additional services at Cambridge from Stansted, Ipswich and Norwich are all shown as running on Real Time Trains.
