Not a complaint but there where two managers one RPI and 1 CO2 who was in the ticket office at Cricklewood at 0903 yesterday. The evacuation of the train at Cricklewood south jn was help by three offices of the BTP and the driver of the train. When I went past Hendon at around 0950 on my way home after giving the day up it was only the CO2 at the station. When there is major disruption on the TL route on the big stations are awash with staff and the passengers at outer station are always left to fend for themselves

This dewirement seems to be taking longer to repair than the Radlett incident a few months back. Anyone got info on why it is taking longer to repair? Something to do with the curve?

Radlett was a head span failing. This was major damage done over a wide area (quarter of a mile of OHLE down I've heard) along with multiple trains trapped and even an EMT train being damaged.

Hi

I missed all these fun and games as I was off work yesterday. Sounds like FCC did a good job though.

Today I was confused at St Pancras to find the Northbound platform closed, and trains in both directions were using the (normally) Southbound platform. Is this connected to the problems at Hendon, and does it cause further problems at Farringdon and City? I'm just curious...

Cant answer that question but it does give you an indication what will happen when the GN side links up and thier only one platform available at St Pancras

When I was last down there (and that was nearly a decade ago) there was a 'crossover' in Clerkenwell (No.2??) Tunnel (between the former Kings Cross Thameslink and Farringdon) that would have allowed use of both platforms, though I'm not certain what the actual signal arrangements are now.

I believe that there is a crossover at each end of St Pancras International nowadays. I might be wrong though.

There a crossover both sides but the Up Canal can only be reached from the northbound platform.

However if this situation happened in 2018 the services from GN would either terminate at Finsbury Park and use the crossover in Canal Tunnels or go straight into Kings Cross so the GN wouldn't be that heavily affected.

Between the parallel lines
I, too, have been impressed with the overall communications about & response to this incident. It is very tough losing all 4 lines in this way, as it always will be, anywhere on that route.

The list of available alternative routes seems to get longer every time this happens, and it has been quite plain from reading this thread & my experiences elsewhere that the focus is much better on a whole host of issues, especially on train evacuation, about which I have heard no complaints whatsoever. In addition, communications on the web & social media were generally accurate & up to date, as far as I could tell (except for minor lag when detailing the effects of reopening the lines through Balcombe Tunnel, which can be forgiven).

Well done to all concerned. I can only hope the unit damage can be repaired soon & that the reinstated OHLE has no further problems for a while!

There's been services around the Wimbledon Loop all day so not sure where your getting that incorrect information from. Guessing because your trying to use one of the track taking website which won't have shown most trains as it's all be short term planning.

Also no FCC driver sounds Victoria. Those Sevenoaks were run completely by Southeastern under the agreement they have work FCC.

I work at Wimbledon station, so no I wasn't incorrect information from the internet!! Between 10am and 4pm there was NO train service to Sutton or to Herne Hill. No bus replacement from Wimbledon to Sutton.

Are you talking about Radlett or this incident at Hendon? As far as I'm aware at Radlett the wires were brought down by a 319 and then was subsequently caught on a passing 222. Someone claimed half a mile of OHLE was pulled down by the Meridian in that incident.

Radlett was a portal problem where as Hendon was head span so affected all 4 lines, it was reported that after the incident the contact wires on the fasts were sagging. Your quite correct about what happened at radlett and iirc RAIB are investigating that one.

One train ran, from Herne Hill via Wimbledon, to Sutton at 13.11 through Wimbledon.
However, arrangements were made to pass passengers on local buses in the area. This is standard practice on the Loop, even if there are engineering works, as they are more reliable, even if they don't serve every station directly.

There was also no trains at all between Blackfriars and the Wimbledon Loop ALL day. Why couldn't they run from the Blackfriars bays and the loop or from Victoria? Why does problems at Hendon mean no services the loop?? They managed to divert and still run the Sevenoaks's. There was also no bus replacements for the loop.

Sorry but you seem to changed your mind!

There was a train service despite what your claiming. I know because I help implement it. The plan was half hourly service from Blackfriars to Sutton with one an hour to either Wimbledon and Mitcham which was put in place and worked.

And there is never a bus replacement around the loop as there is so many alternatives with local buses and two Tubes lines to choose from. There are far more frequent than a bus replacement will be.
