We are transforming the way people think about train travel, empowering our team from different backgrounds to make it a great experience for our customers. Together, we will revalue rail as a very special way to travel – relaxing, fast, efficient, and sustainable.
First Rail Stirling, operating under Lumo is part of FirstGroup, the largest rail operator in the UK and second largest bus operator in the UK outside London. FirstGroup operates services throughout the UK and Ireland, with over 30,000 employees providing services that make travel smoother and life easier. FirstGroup works hard to reduce its impact on the environment, introducing cleaner and more environmentally responsible methods of transport.
As a minimum, you will need to have:
- You must be 21 years of age or older to be accepted on to the training course, as this is an industry requirement.
- You will need to live within 60 minutes travel time to the depot, which is located at Stirling, Preston or London Euston, without using public transport when it is not available. The safety responsibilities make this requirement a necessity.
- The ability to work shifts of varying start times, including weekends and nights shifts.
- As this role is an important safety role, we have a stringent recruitment process, that includes various ability tests, that measure the key requirements needed for the role. Do not worry too much about this, as we will send you Practice Test Materials, before we invite you to any ability testing events, so you will have plenty of time to practice for the tests.
- Not have defective colour vision.
- Not have failed the Train Driver assessment within the last six months.
- Not have failed the Train Driver assessment twice before.
Salary:
The apprentice salary rate is £38,955.50 per annum, rising to £68,449.50 when fully qualified.
