Lpool - M/c Electrification

Recently I traveled lpool - m/c via chat moss/barton moss route, concrete supports for overhead wires are well in progress over barton moss section,steel tubes approx 30' in length and 3'width were lying along lineside and also upended and piledriven into lineside ready to support overhead equipment, some had already been driven into ground and had another 30'section bolted on and appeared to be waiting to be piledriven,so potentially they will go down approx 60', I've never seen this setup before but the question is weather the floating membrane beneath the track of the Stephenson era is going to be damaged? I seem to recall years ago when CWR was first laid across chat moss there was trouble because of excavation of the track was to deep and damaged membrane.
perhap's an engineer has an explanation.

Stephenson didn't have access to geotextiles! The long piles will be try to get down through George's hurdles-'n'-rock fill to something more solid (if memory serves there is clay under the Moss, but I could be wrong).

Track relaying would only have gone down 12-16" (300 to 400mm) so the worst it would have done would have been to catch the top of any pitching layer (big rocks used to make a more solid layer between the formation and the track ballast) - BR went through a phase of (shortsightedly) ripping this out and it has caused formation issues ever since.

Exactly what happened on Leeds North West.
If at all possible we tried not to go down through the pitching layer, but there were a number of times we had to and the problems started then for the maintenance teams with wet spots and the like.
The whole line from Leeds to Skipton is built on, for all intents and purposes, a cobbled road.
It was put there for a purpose and will still fulfill that purpose if you leave it alone.
Especially if you are only talking about a slight reduction in the specified ballast depth.
