I assume 401-430 and 441-465 will all return to Longstone soon?

Someone else might be able to answer this better than me, but my assumption would be that the swap would have already taken place as I don't think they would have bothered taking all of the London (including the dual door) B9TLs up to Longstone when they could have just sent them to Central to replace the 401-465 B5s. Apparently they were moving alot of buses overnight last night. 441-465 are all at Lothian Country and only went there last week.

Yesterday I saw 3 tour buses, did they start early? (2 Sightseeing's and 1 3 Bridge Tour). Was this for a video / photo shoot or just an early start?

saw one in grass market yesterday when I was on the 2! Looked like a normal tour however folk were not wearing face coverings

I was curious if they might be being repainted for Skylink if they were coming off Airlink permanently.
This was my initial thought as the 400 during the original part of the emergency timetable used the B8L frequently up until a couple of weeks ago. However, come March 2021 (only 8 months away) the current Airlink B8Ls will be 2 years old, and, unless the 2-year-old limit has been changed, should be cascaded to Skylink. So moving 3 over now, might not be as strange as it sounds. It also might allow the 300 to be extended from Cameron Toll to then terminate at Royal Infirmary.

If it's going in to regular colours though, I wonder if it will be headed back to Central, or if Longstone will be receiving them.

"Only 8 months away". That is still some time.

I'd imagine given the economical impact of covid-19 (the worst of which is obviously yet to come) that 2 year rule would probably be relaxed. They've barely been used as it is.

One would assume this, however what does the agreement between LB and EDI say? I would expect some sort of exemption to that rule for 12 months, but stranger things have happened.

I was under the impression that 431-437 would have been converted into standard Lothian livery.
They will once Skylink get the cascaded buses whenever that happens.

Some things I noticed:
Onboard an XLB the seats next to the driver had a piece of paper on both seats saying that you can't sit there to help with Social Distancing

Mask signs are starting to appear next to the door telling people they are mandatory

The LothianCountry bus stop at West End had moved to the one that the service 26 serves (previously the one the 100 serves), however the X17 and X38 numbers were also placed on the bus stop, along with the X18, meaning those routes may make a return?

I’m willing to bet the X17/X38 will return in the next changes as the network is back to being about 75% back to normal at least.

Its unclear, someone might have been told to just move all LCB services to the other stop. Why they are moving the services to different stop from First its unclear.

Edit: X18 has been changed to serve more stops within the city, is it the ploy to get more local passengers on the service? X18 on its own using the 12/26/31 might not be bad, but adding in more ie 10 buses an hour might make that stop awful crowed.

The moving of those LC services to that stop was always planned (along with other city bus stop changes - outside Jenners for example). It was part of the service change scheduled for 18th April.

Believe it’s been done to bring attention to the fact costorphine bound passengers can use them as alternatives to their usual city services (whilst also making them busier).

Surly these successful services dont need to attract the attention of city passengers?
No, But the 12, 26, 31 and more prominently Airlink need to run lighter, so if the X17's and X18's carry more, statistically Airlink and the others will be lighter.

Plus all the smug First Fanboys who sit out all day complaining that Lothian run empty need proof.

Maybe the wouldn't have needed to run lighter if they hadn't CUT 26 by 2 buses per hour.. I'm also surprised the Airlink need to lighter with the lack of any passengers.
