Long-Distance High-Frequency Services

Seen as random buses are all the rage at the minute, I thought I'd throw one in myself!

Name some long-distance bus services that run at least four times an hour throughout the route (local differences, such as the 5/5A in Brighton, are permitted). The definition of long-distance is up to you, but keep in mind that most don't run that often!

I am going to start with two services, both of which run for roughly 15 miles:

Arriva Southend 1: Shoeburyness to Rayleigh via the A13 London Road every 10 minutes
First Somerset & Avon X39: Bath to Bristol via the A4 [almost exclusively!] every 12 minutes

Over to you...

A couple I can think of are:

79 Birmingham-Wolverhampton via West Bromwich and 126 Birmingham-Wolverhampton via Dudley, both every 10-12 minutes

Buses magazine earlier this year highlighted that Go North East are introducing some high-frequency interurban routes, including Newcastle-Durham.

Has to be 700 Coastliner Portsmouth to Brighton - 50+ miles and 4 hour journey time. Runs every 15 minutes throughout, and every 10 minutes from Littlehampton to Brighton.

And going the other way from Brighton is Brighton & Hove's 12/12A to Eastbourne every 10 minutes.

Another long route with a 10 minute frequency is First South Yorkshire's X78 between Sheffield and Doncaster.

4 hour journey time, that's painful! On a good day I could cycle that I reckon

28ish miles for the 300/301 services Hemel Hempstead - St Albans - Hatfield - WGC - Stevenage?
These run 15 minutes frequency throughout the day together Mon-Fri, with one 300 running Hemel - WGC and one running St Albans - Stevenage but the 301s running a full route on Sats.

That's about all I can find round here!

This might have happened already, the 21 runs Newcastle - Durham every 15 minutes and the 20 runs Sunderland - Durham every 10 minutes.

Having used the number 20 a lot I can say that this journey is painful! A journey between to places as close as Sunderland and Durham should never take 50 minutes, especially as this is the main service. There should be a more frequent express service taking approx 25 minutes, or 30 minutes if it only stops at Houghton.

Citylink 900 from Edinburgh to Glasgow every 15 mins

Oxford to London coach route. Both Stagecoach and Oxford Bus Company operated. Both routes operate at 15 min frequency during the day. I think it's the busiest coach route in the country.

Which runs every 10 minutes on a Friday/Saturday night! Every 12 minutes other nights and every 5.14 minutes (I kid you not) MF daytime.

Although it feels a lot longer it is only around 12 miles though!

I don't remember the OP mentioning "registered" - it certainly qualifies as a bus route - and of course it depends what you mean by registered...
