London Midland class 150's

Good idea, but the 139s are there to stay and it is a waste of fuel using a 150 on the STB branch. Partly why the 153 went. I mean the 139 is empty sometimes and to imagine even a 153 leaving empty is a waste of money. The 139 isn't that bad. It gets you from A to B and its only for 2-4 mins. I quite like the change when catching it.

I hope 139s don't become the norm for other branch lines. What if a large party turns up wanting to use the train? You lose all operational flexibility and they can't be worked in multiple.

It has gone back to its normal 150/1, 150/2, 150/1 formation. One vehicle of 150009 had gearbox problems so it was taken out of service for repairs. One of 150216 cars around the same time left its cardon shaft on the track at Malvern link. So, due to train shortages now, 150009 had this formation:

57216 57202 and 52109.

So 52109, the good (great in my terms) car of 009 was put at the Worcester end, 150216's good car was put in the middle and 150202 which has since the repaint back in 2007 worn 150009 as its number. This continued for a while till 57109 was repaired, and 52216 had its new cardon shaft. So 150009 is back to its original 3 car formation now. Went on it on Wednesday and it was back to normal and he sounded wonderful!

P.S 150009 is staying along with 005 and 007 with 202 as far as I know unallocated.

I am going to get the same shot some 19 yrs later! If I can remember I took this photo with a pentax ME Super or an Olympus OM 10! when we used to use rolls of film like they where going out of fashion! LOL

Well some 19 or so years later and my 1st attempt to take this same shot again has worked well!

Just jurned up at Langley Green this morning armed with my old photo of 001, sorted out the same spot a few test pics to just eye it up!! and the next train to pass to Kiddy way was 150 001!!!!

Whats the chances of that then!!!!

Great shots! Obviously 001 didn't have a serious problem on Thursday. Lucky as well! Just been on a bike ride and seen 009 and 132 together on the 1:46 from Dorridge and 150007 at Danzey on its way to Stratford. Three of my favourite units.

It first almost all trains were 170+153 'combi' trains which took a bit of getting use to at first. These have become less common recently as more 3 car 170's are being used and many trains now only have 2 cars due to the 153's being transfered to other franchises.

150's contunied to be used on Saturdays untill mid-2010 and made the ocasional weekday apearence.

It is a shame to see them go because 150's were the staple traction on the Chase for the best part of 20 years, but the line is truely owned by the 170's now.

You're very much correct.

The main reason as to why the Stafford service was ended (appart from the fact that nobody used it and delayed trains kept getting terminated at Rugeley TV anyway) was because the 75mph top speed on the 150's could'nt fit in with the December 08 West Coast timetable.

I think they'd worked it out that 100mph class 170's could fit into that timetable, but the funding bodies (i.e. Centro and Staffordshire CC) had already taken the decision to finish the Stafford service before the rolling stock allocations had been made for the November 07 franchise chage. It was asumed at the time that 150's would continue into the new franchise.

I started in October 2009, funny enough the 1st Picture i took was an Class 150, so from October 2009 to October 2010 i been taking photos of Class 150 on the chase Line when i'm travelling to work

The Class 150 is what made me started, taking photos of Train and videos, i know i got Class 150's on my youtube acount arriving and departing in the Rugeley area at the time i started i knew the 172 were going to be introduce and grabbed as mmuch 150 photos and footage as i could

National Express West Midlands did when the withdrew that last of the classic Metrobus. To be fair, those were as much as a brummie transport icon as the 150's and 323's are.

I think they should, the Class 150's have dominated the West Midlands for years! i also think they should get an Class 150 back on the Chase Line just for one day to relive the past!

Well I found this video which was uploaded yesterday, with 150001 connected to 375 from last week I suppose and 150106 connected to TWO class 153s!

As I understand LM are only training Snow Hill line crews to operate them, so not in the short term.
