Have many actually come through Droitwich yet, I know some have but they seem to be very elusive.

They look right at home! Although, I just found a video of the riots which have spread to Birmingham which is right outside Snow hill, I was planning to go filming at the Snow Hill Station however second thoughts....

well that dumped 172 is still at tyseley, has not moved an inch since last week , today at TY were 172 332-339 thats all ?? and 172341 was working between worcester and tyseley . 172 341 came through moor st at about 11am didnt get a photo !:( . i expected it back through the hawthorns at about 12.25pm ,(normalish time ) instead a 67 " a shropshire lad " came thorugh first light engine back to stourbridge to pick up its coachs .

20 mins wait and 172341 came and stopped ,did its doors bit and left the hawthorns at 12.37 off for worcester. "

not has often has there were on the stratford line . the worcester LM drivers dont get has many days training has the b/ham drivers ,because there already trained on the 170s.

i waited today for the only run that ive seen on the b/ham worcester side and it didnt turn up ,its being running all week from worcester to tyseley ,and i didnt see it last friday so maybe its on m-thurs . but i normally see it around b-ham moor st or stations around there at about 11.am so i guess it must leave worcester at about 10.15 / 10.30 ish heading towards brum.
and it normally leaves tyseley at about 12.midday heading back to worcester.

but these can and do vary sometimes half an hour each way .
has for the stratford line ive not been for about a week ,i only get has far has tyseley .
but i guess they still may be running because theres normally only 2-3 sets on the depot and they have about 6 sets there so the others must be out on the stratford line . worcester only has 2 sets 341 is the one running between worces / b/ham
so i guess the other set must be worcester / gloucester ?

if they are still on the straford line (and i dont see why they shoundnt be )
i used to see em about 12.15 dept for stratford and if 2 sets on another at about 12. 45, takes em about an to comeback ! again ish best to just go sit on ty station and wait :|

The units only leave Worcs if drivers are on the 3rd or 4th day of training. 1st 2 days are static training.

can you keep us posted on that 85a ,thanks

it would be good if they did a few free trial run for passingers on the 172 ,like they did when 150001 was doing its show parade around the country .

150001 ran a few free trips from b/ham new st ,around the camp hill line and back to new st again , staff onboard asking passingers there views of the new train ,and the types of seats they liked .back then it had differnt types and colors of seats in every coach.
(any one reamber that ) i made a few trips

why dont Lm do somethink like that for us passingers ?? :)

and anyone remember when 150002 was a class 154 :D

I don't remember the free trips, but I remember 150001 spending a long time on the Matlock branch in revenue service. When you boarded you were asked to fill in the questionaire as to which seats etc. you preferred. That was the first time I had heard the phrase "airline" seating in connection with seat layout! I think we must have giuven the bus seats a big thumbs down!

I assume there must have been another prototype maintaining teh hourly frequency, presumably it was 151001?

All the 172's are hidden at tyseley due to some work on the water system.

2/3 in/around Worc.

2 on north warwicks mileage runs

1 other 172337 was on a Stratford and a Leamington for train.

172211 and 172331/2/3/7/8/9/40/41/43or44/45 all in and around the LM network.

172211 and 172345 looked very smart running down to Stratford today.

172343 and 172337 in use for training at Tyseley.

I quite agree. I'm going to Snow Hill next Wednesday to do some filming. And down to Dorridge to get some more footage of them. Although, I reckon they'll still be around till December. Hopefully!

Ironic isn't it first we chase the 172's then soon we'll be chasing the 150's. Reminds me of when i chased the pendo's when they first came along then i chased the 87's lol!

There are not any LM 172s in passenger service yet, by the time you are in Birmingham one or two may be but the Snow Hill jobs will still be 150 worked in the main.

A positive by-product of hanging around waiting to see 172s is that there is the usual procession of 150s to be oberserved while you wait, so it kills two birds with one stone!

As Old Hill Bank says, the vast majority of the diagrams on the Snow Hill lines will still be 150 worked at the start of September. I should imagine that all of the 150s that are present now will still be in the West Midlands.

Gazing speculatively into my crystal ball I imagine that it'll be after the December timetable change/the new year before Northern start to see the benefits of the cascaded 150s.

With regard to todays' 172 runs, 172340 and 172345 were on Tyseley by the fuelling point this morning, while 172333 and 172343 were shuttling back and forth singly on the Stratford line during the morning, with 172343 back on the fuelling point at lunchtime. But can anyone tell me what the two units running back towards Tyseley as a pair through Hall Green at about 09:30 this morning were? Additionally, does anyone know the identities of the three 172/3s currently stabled towards the shed at Tyseley are?
