Hmm, it's quite plausible that I overcounted (I passed it on the train heading in the opposite direction); it did look like more than three carriages at the time.

150101/02/04/06/08/22/24-26/32 EJSH-EJHQ

What does the EJSH and EJHQ mean? Also, found out in Today's railways number allocations.

First Great Western
150101
150102
150104
150106
150122

Along with 150108 and 150126 already there and of course 153325 and 153333.

150010
150011
150012
150013
150014

150019

150204
150206

150214
150220
150226

This leaves 150009, 150007 and 150005 for London Midland.

In the magazine it states 5*3 car units and 5*2 car units left which are being decided on.

If there are any class 150's which are unallocated i am sure us in wales would be happy to take a few, as for the 2 carriages without a toilet, it could be used just on the Coryton - Cardiff - Radyr service.

that could release a class 143/142 which could boost capacity elsewhere on the valley lines network, maybe the WAG should look at this

I would love to some 150/0 and 150/1 in ATW livery! 001 would look great! And I certainly agree on that idea Anthony.

I have spoken to my local counciller about this, since he and some of members of bridgend council are interested in getting the Ebbw vale trains extended to Maesteg to provide a half hourly service between Maesteg & Cardiff which is especially needed.

These extra class 150's could also allow for a unit to plug some of the 2 hour gaps on the local service between Cardiff & Cheltenham, a pacer could even be booked to provide a hourly swanline service off peak before working a peak hour service from cardiff back up the valleys.

Heck perhaps 1 could even be used to plug the large gap between trains on the fishguard line when the new timetble comes into effect in september

The 150s sound perfect. Lets hope it happens. 150/1s in ATW. Hopefully your council shall get heard by the DFT as LM don't need the units and Northern are probably the only one also wanting them!

Well split them perhaps 1 or 2 sets to Northern with the rest to ATW the 2 no toilet fitted carriages could be used to form a 2 carriage dmu which would be used on the Coryton - Cardiff Central Radyr service which has a journey time of only 40 minutes end to end.

The other sets could provide extra capacity and replace the class 158's on teh Maesteg - Cheletneham service which could help provide more trains along the cambrian line.

According to the pool codes,

EJSH - means - LONDON MIDLAND ANGEL TRAIN CONTRACTS WEST MIDLANDS SNOW HILL LINES

EJHQ - means - LONDON MIDLAND PORTERBROOK/ANGEL/EVERSHOLT HEADQUARTERS

so I guess this is the start of the reallocation process.

According to Abrail there are the following notes - though I do not know how accurate it is!
150101 to go to FGW

150002 to go to FGW
150104 to go to FGW
150122 to go to FGW
150124 to go to FGW

This is becoming a two topic post now!:(

I think we need to start a new topic for the LM class 150 sprinter as we seen now to be talking abot 150's and not 172's.

A good idea. So have the 172s got the one wheelchair accessible toilet or is there is another smaller toilet.

Does this mean there will no longer be class 150's on the line between Lemington Spa to Great Malvern?
