London Bridge - Major Disruption

For info - major disruption to all services at London Bridge tonight. No trains have moved on all lines controlled by London Bridge ASC since 1640.

This is due to a problem in the signalbox itself, causing a loss of power to the signalling.

No estimate for resumption.

Network Rail Tweeted at 17:23 that "A small fire in an equipment room has damaged signalling."

Sounds bad. I can't remember a rush hour when all of london bridge, cannon street and charing cross were entirely closed.

Just heard they restored power but someone went down onto tracks so power back off.

Thameslink is diverted via Elephant (not sure if they are calling there tho) so get to Blackfriars and you have a chance.

Actually control have just stated that it was only 1 person, and he is now enjoying the hospitality of BTP.

LU to Wimbledon and then Tramlink should still work.

Sadly no Guards to help them out or give alternative details to others, so the driver now has to deal with it all, I hope they can because I aint their to help them.

No the drivers won't have to do anything anew neither would guards as it would be the station staff at every LO station telling passengers what to do.

Traction Power is fine.

Problem is in the signalling power supply. Some has been restored, but not the bit through London Bridge.

Actually just had a message to say it has been restored at London Bridge, so fingers crossed it holds and things start moving again soon.

Bearing in mind the disruption my journey home wasn't too bad. Bus to Victoria, train to East Croydon, then to Oxted then to Crowborough, only 90 minutes or so late.

St Pancras was interesting at about 1930. The queue for Southeastern High Speed services occupied much of the SE/FCC concourse and was being controlled by the BTP.

My journey would've been fine had North Greenwich not been closed due to overcrowding - judging by the picture below, most of southeast London attempted to funnel through it. That's the trouble with only having one Underground station to serve such a large area; when something like this happens, it can't take the strain.

As things went, I took the DLR to Woolwich, where I had to wait a while for a bus as the first few were all full to bursting.

You sure about that? Perhaps when I made announcements on a packed train about disruption and what people could do, I was actually speaking to no one !

Also every train stuck between stations is actually at a station :roll::roll: Perhaps what they do they send all (one) the station staff down the track (Not PTS trained either!) and then speak to the passengers about what is happening. Such a perfect world in your place isn't it?

This all worked out well for me. I have have a National Rail season ticket, but was planning to take the Jubilee line today. Due to the disruption, my ticket was accepted by the tube anyway

If it had been a group of people on the track, would they have enjoyed BTP hospitality. Or does it only apply to single people?

Was stuck literally 20 seconds away from St Johns for around 50mins. Took 2.5 hours from New Eltham to Charlton. Normally I'd of got the bus but decided for a change.

Your comments were over a service suspension. People aren't going to get on trains if trains aren't running are they.

What your talking about is a different situation to why your now talking about which makes your above comments irrelevant.

In theory it applies to anyone, but in practice the law can only realisticly be enforced for individuals and SMALL groups.
Cant realisticly arrest or contain more than a dozen, or perhaps a few dozen.

Just another observation on the ground, surprised nobody has mentioned that this caused significant knock on effects on the Underground. Victoria LU was closed for some time due to overcrowding!

Yes, as was London Victoria NR station. Delays on the Circle & District Lines didn't exactly help LU, either.

I mentioned North Greenwich earlier, but I'm not surprised that the rest of the network was affected. Victoria used to get closed due to overcrowding routinely on an average morning peak anyway, so that was a given.
