I'm sure the guy who spent so much effort putting the cab desk of 57007 back together really appreciates it's fate...(!)

Not sure how much they'll be able to recover from 007 for rebuilding 302, but alas, this is LSL thinking, the actual realisms of it don't tend to come into their strategic thinking.

As I don’t have a lot of familiarity with the various 57 builds, I was wondering how much crossover there is between the ’original’ freight build and the ETH versions. I note that 004 has already been stripped (and scrapped) to provide parts to GWR.

I don't know much about them, but I believe the /3s and /6s have a slightly different variant of the EMD 645 power unit, but there is a lot of commonality between them. What we don't know is what bits GWR wanted from 57004. Bogies, traction motors, brake frame, electrical cubicle, compressors, cab equipment.

Quick question ahead of the North Western Wanderer tour on Saturday - is 50050 due out on a test run tomorrow/Friday per chance? Feels odd its not done one yet (to my knowledge) despite being due out in a few days.

Interesting point. I can't see any move booked to move it to Crewe either. Is there any reason why they couldn't use one or both of the green 37s?

It might not have to move to Crewe, it could go straight to Preston or wherever it’s meant to start working the tour.

I would have thought they would keep one of the LSL 37/4s in large logo blue. But only an assumption

Multiple people have rumored it and LSL said 'a second LSL /4 will receive Scotrail livery'

Which tour are you referring to will be top-and-tail 47s?

47593 was renumbered from 47790 on TOPS five years ago. However 47853 is still 47853 on TOPS, despite carrying 47614 on the side to confuse the trainspotters.

The website clearly advertises 2 x 37/4s. It seems certain that 37409 will be involved but beyond that it rather depends on whether 37401 is available or not.
