A friend of mine has found this old shot of his and wonders where he may have taken it! If anyone is able to identify it I'd be grateful.

Presumably somewhere (once?) on the LNER network, given the signboard, although that hardly narrows things down all that much.

The white gable towards the left is quite distinctive. The building beyond appears to have roof timbers but no slates, as the chimney is visble through the roof, so that one could be in the course of demolition. 0000 headcode suggests mid-1970s.

Yes, that zero’d headcode panel does suggest January 1976 onwards, does it not have a Great Northern & Great Eastern Joint Line look to it perhaps?

The large white-gabled building identifies the location as Woodbridge, Suffolk. I would guess that the train is the evening peak Liverpool Street-Lowestoft service.

Yes, as said in #6 it appears to be Ferry Quay Level Crossing just north of Woodbridge station.

Looks a bit different today, but the house beyond the white gable appears to have survived.

Yes....the footbridge has been renewed and I believe that the house beyond the white gable is the station building. The white gabled building is the Riverside Cinema, Bar and Restaurant....formerly known as the Woodbridge Electric Theatre and opened in 1915. That would be a good one for the "Settlement Association" thread! ;)
