Ahh... Apologies for being very off topic, but isn't it a bit crap going there as there's nothing around? What do you do on breaks?
Just stand and chat, yeah its very crap!and gettin there is a pain from sutton
It's not deliberate, it's just how I always knew it and I rarely go through it now so it's not drilled into me yet.
By the way, they'll ALWAYS be Opal Fruits!!
A customer asked me for a train to Sheffield Midland the other day.
Slightly off topic, but natives of Leeds frequently give directions in terms of landmarks that are no longer there. As in "Turn right at The Grenadier - the pub that closed 15 years ago, then we'll be opposite the Grocery shop (that was bombed out in the war)" Never come across this so much in other areas. And have a guess where "Yeadon Aerodrome" is known as.
Erm, are they not still?BTW does any traffic still use the lines behind the station to Tyne Dock. Travel through quite regularly and not seen anything yet!
The line is still in use IIRC marra, I haven't seen anything down there recently either but then again I'm seldom up there these days. cussion of reopening the Leamside line.
They would be correct. It is pronounced Marri-ban or Marle-bone and not Marry-le-bone.(and even the correct name is nearly always mispronounced as FOSTER Square - Same with Marylebone, some people seem to treat it as having a silent Y and call it MARLEBONE...)

On a similar note, most people I know still call HSBC "Midland Bank"

My nan and dad's friend still call Limehouse Stepney East.
Signposts in Egham still refer to 'BR Station'![]()
Easy, Leeds/Bradford International, and I'm t'spoutherner!
Wolverhampton - Wolves, High level
Shrewsbury - Salop
Stourbridge Town - The town (car)
Bilbrook - Birches Bridge
Cosford - Donnington
Long Eaton - Sawley
I still refer to Mottisfont & Dunbridge station as Dunbridge, since Dunbridge only became Mottisfont & Dunbridge when FGW took over.
