Also, can a coach veg please tell me which rake the EMT liveried mk3s are on? I know it's not NL11, that's the dining train in MML livery, but can someone help with that? Ta
It isn't a dining train, just the Pullman set with one more first class coach and one less standard class one. As far as I know, the EMT liveried set is NL08

153321 has just passed paired with a 156 in EMT livery. They appear to be gaining different font / size letters on the front and sides, being bolder, and look slightly larger.

Yes, but it was originally vinyled, not painted in the new colours. 222001 is asking whether or not 017 has been de-vinyled and painted into the same colours since then.

there appears to be a very shiny looking 153 in Eastcroft depot, couldn't see its number as I was in a car on the bridge which overlooks it from the A612 (great bridge for unit veg ;)) anyone know if it's a newly done one?

If the remaining 222s arrive at EMT, will they be lengthened to 5 cars? I don't think there are enough spare are there?

could be... but I didn't think Corbys would need more than 4 cars, could proabbly get away with 2 or 3 (I don't actually know if that's possibleon these units!

Nope not really, unless they do some sort of strange re-shuffle thing by taking another car from four 7 car Meridians but that would be stupid.

On a different note does anybody know what the loadings are like in 1st Class on the 7 car Meridians? They never appear to be that busy in 1st and I always thought 3 first class coaches was a bit much really. If loadings are not that high I think one of them should be converted to standard.

Im confused as to why they using 7 car Meridians on this service. Seems a waste of capacity I think. Unless they really are expecting it to be a really busy service.

Umm - my regular service to Sheffield is a 5-car Meridian and that's usually bursting. A few times I've had a 7 car and was 9 car, and it's been well loaded and that's off-peak (return). More so than the 4 carriages on Pendolinos...

Out of interest which service is this?

The only 5 car Meridian diagram to Sheffield is the 0610 St Pancras-Sheffield. I've boarded this at Chesterfield many times and its been lightly loaded, even in the times of 4 car Meridians. This service is due to be upgraded to a 7 car Meridian in December though.

I do agree about the 7 car Meridians being full even in off-peak times. The 1218 Sheffield-St Pancras is an example of this.

0610 it is. Meeting usually commences at 0900 at Northern headquarters and I'm always late obviously. Thankfully I only have to walk out from the station and turn left to get to where I need to be. Usually empties at Derby a bit, most people hang around on P1 for a XC service I presume.

Coming back at mid-afternoon is just as busy on a longer train, as I pointed out earlier. Thankfully I only do it once a month - or I may have to kill myself. I find the MML ever so slow and dull...

EDIT: I swear there's usually another 5-car Meridian hanging around in Sheffield when I come back? I'm usually on the 141x off Sheffield, and I'm pretty sure more than once there's been a small Meridian lurking in a platform?

I'm getting severely worried about capacity - today al the HSTs I went on were heavily loaded, including people standing up a lot, so christ knows what's gonna happen!

Also, 222017 has now been painted after having its vynils removed, was at Derby today looking very shiny :) Also, 158783 is now completed and should be in service next week. I will miss some of the unrefurbs, the decomissioned first class in the ex TPE 158s is very very comfortable and cosy :)

EMT get on the news a lot... it's good for them, though :) I like EMT's approach to things TBH. They seem to want to get all the problems sorted, and they're not doing a bad job. There are some criticisms with the new timetable, granted, and some 5 car Meridian diagrams are just worrying, but hopefully they'll get everything on track.

158 looks good. I'm pretty sure that EMT will sort out the issues for the new TT change. They may even be spot on, and us lot completely wrong! But we'll see. Not long to go now...

The good news is that the 0610 departure will be upgraded to a 7 car Meridian from December. The only Meridian depatures south from Sheffield are 1218 (7 car), 1818 (7 car) and 2039 (5 car to be upgraded to 7 car from December).

Edit: Unless it was at a weekend. There is a 15xx departure to St Pancras via Nottingham

I am also really worried about overcrowding on Sheffield-London from December. As much as I like the Meridians I think HSTs should remain on this route or there will be a lot of standing passengers and I wouldnt want that all the way to London. If the Derby services are extended to Sheffield it would help as these are not as busy as most people opt for the faster HST. (I think?)

saw it at Nottingham and there were 2 grey doors still, one even still had the MML '1' sticker to show first class - then again, they have a load of spare meridian doors at Etches Park (if you look carefully you can see the stand full of them on the way towards Long Eaton!) that are still grey; so they could be defective and replaced. For your information, it was the first class coaches
