is the half standard decomissioned first class then?

Its a conversion. It looks like the other coaches in the Meridian fleet where about 2/3 of the space is taken by first class and the other 1/3 is taken by standard. You can tell that it all used to be first class due to the purple stripes at the sides of the windows where the curtains used to be.

Something I have just been thinking is that one whole first class carriage has to all be converted to standard to boost 222009 or 222018 up to 5 car Meridians. Extra standard seats have got to come from somewhere. If they can get the same seats used in the Meridians which I presume they can; I hope they can find the same material to use to cover the seats, as it will look quite strange having seating in one coach one colour and seating another a different colour on the same train.

153302 has been refurbished - looks like they used the seats from the unrefurbished CT 158s before refurbing 158783. Still in Heart of Devon / Cornwall livery.

So it's an East Midlands Trains unit, in a Wessex Trains livery that was used by FGW, with Central Trains moquette, and interior Wales & Borders branding on safety signs :lol:

I will add coaching stock soon for any coach anoraks out there :p

A driver for EMT informed that there was a variation on the new livery on the Class 222s which depends on which shift of workers repaint them. He told me it was about a different interpretation of the instructions given which results in a differing appearance of the yellow section by the coupling. Below is a shot I took deliberately to show this with 222006 and 222017 at Nottingham.

You can clearly see that on one the yellow comes right down to the coupling, whilst on 222017 the red is left across the top of the coupling. Very odd, and not really important but I thought I'd share my findings

Hmm... 'tis rather odd. Presumably most people won't notice it, so EMT probably don't care too much about it. Then again, they haven't counted on us to nit-pick over these tiny details, as we do :D

The livery had to be changed at the start because of the nose area, not enough yellow.

222017 is the one that is vinyled and not painted, so thats could be the reason that one is different. But some of the early ones painted such as 222008 and 222013 have slightly different coverage of yellow. It settled down after about the first 4 had been painted. They are all the sameish after that.

it's like the 156s, their colour scheme includes wrap-round yellow (better imo) than on 153s, which the yellow stops in favour of red.

Some of the 222s are already filthy, one of the coaches of a 222 I saw at St Pancras was almost black from dirt.

If you think EMT are bad, try this page here which documents SWT best attempts to get as many swoosh variations as possible...

Am I the only one who can't see the differences in the above page, even though they are pointed out to me?

I thin me123 was referring to the link to Desiro variations, rather than my shots and yes, I'll join him in saying I can see no difference either

Yes, Tom, I can see the variation in the Meridians. What I cannot see is the desiro differences, even though there is a long article explining them to me...

Not strictly livery gen but 222008 which has been out of service for as long as i can remember was seen in nottingham last night forming the 2007 to st pancras.

158783 was said to be 3 weeks behind schedule. It should now appear next week.
