Though you get much better seats, and when its backed to the rims, you can sit in comfort. Totally worth it on FCC Thameslink

Then again, on Scotrail even long distance, you get a slightly more comfortable (presumably) seat in a little cubby hole at the end of the carriage, with silly looking table lamps and curtains. You also get "complimentary" refreshments; probably not more than 3 on the longest journeys. Certainly not worth it.

Now 153365 has been back with London Midland since 17th September but hasn't yet (to my knowledge) turned a wheel in service! Yesterday 153356 was returned from Eastleigh to Tyseley but they will run out of room if they're just gonna store them all. Seriously though, need to see one of these paired up with a 170 on the Rugeleys to make my month complete.

Northern's 142070 seems to be the latest 142 unit to be re painted into Northern Corporate Livery iam sure this is one which has just come back from FGW i saw it in Liverpool Lime St on Christmas Eve.

rather oddly, seeing as all of XC's 170s are revamped with first class (so it seems anyway!) I was still not allowed to buy a first class ticket on Monday to derby and back! Though NR says you can, EMT's staff at Nottingham aren't allowed to issue those tickets yet :???: what a stupid system
