Obviously the new platforms have new overhead wiring equipment. Will the old be replaced on the other platforms during the June and July closure?

There will be some re-modelling because the platforms and trackwork are moving, but I don't know whether complete replacement is necessary.

I'd suspect most of it will .Certainly on 1 which is going and 2&3 being stretched. It may well be that 7 is the only one left alone. (current platforms)

The new PIS on the new platforms 8&9 look very much like the ones at Liverpool South Parkway and seem to inhabit the same fantasy realm. The chap on the platform is telling me something different to the PIS which is telling me something different to the National Rail Enquiries App. Am wondering if I should go for a pint and come back or if that will mean I just never get home. Ha ha.

The timetable for the first part of the Lime St summer blockade is now visible on realtimetrains, covering June 2-15 (June 2-10 for the Chat Moss route).
Trains start/terminate at Liverpool South Parkway (LPY) or Huyton.
As last year, Merseyrail have an altered Northern Line service terminating at LPY, with buses serving Hunts Cross.
Northern has a reduced 4tph stopping service via Huyton (Wigan, Blackpool and Manchester Victoria x2).
TPE will not run west of Manchester.
The Norwich/Manchester Airport services from LPY will call at Hunts Cross, where the 2tph CLC local starts.

The new platform edge for the rebuilt (old) platform 4 is now taking shape, with brickies hard at work in full view of the public on P3.
Presumably this will end up being a lot wider than the previous structure.
The two new platforms in the south shed (well, one is new, the other is being rebuilt) look pretty much ready for use over most of their length, but both still have large holes close to the concourse.

When it re-opens, it appears that both slow lines will be bi-directional upto the new ladder junction that's been put in halfway through the cutting.

Seem a couple of bagged up signals with route indicators in the cutting. Lime St panel operational from 30th July according to weekly notices. So would imagine it's then, but it does also say work continuing until October.

Within earshot of trains passing the one and half
I thought they were re-implementing the shuttle off (old) 1 and (old) 2 again, then the main blockade will end with (new) 3 to (new) 10 coming into use / (old) 1 and (old) 2 closing, with (old) 1 being recovered and (new) 1 + (new) 2 being brought into use later in the year?

EDIT: numbering corrected.

Does the single bore tunnel (Russel Street?) go out of use when platform one closes too?

Ahh excellent, it seemed strange to lose it when the whole process is to aid capacity thanks for that! Is there a link to final layout of the station? Sorry I know it is probably buried in the last 20 pages somewhere!

I think it is a strange idea to take away platform 1 as it surely could be operated in a similar vein to platform 9 at Man Picc which has points on it to 10,11 and 12. I guess there must be a standards reason for this not happening, but it does seem like a potentially useful extra platform for getting something out the way is being wasted.

Question re Liverpool South Parkway - Platform 4 - as this is being used to terminate the Virgin Euston Service - which exits out the Liverpool end of the platform and returns to London via Platform 3 - what is the purpose of the signal at the london end of the platform - and why cant the Euston train exit in the 'usual' direction'?

Was there on Sunday - Very busy - but hats off to the station staff for avoiding chaos and making the temp arrangements work very well - didnt realise on a sunday that the 15 minute Northern Line Service - of the 4 departures an hour 2 run fast to Liverpool Central then on to Kirkby - so a very quick transfer into the city

Good effort really!

Lime Street Platforms 1 & 2 duly reopened today (11 June). Nominally 2 trains per hour to Wigan, and one per hour to Manchester Victoria until early evening. The 12:30 ex-Manchester Victoria was diesel (a 156 + 150, I think) rather than a 319.

My understanding is that that the signal at the Runcorn end of platform 4is only there to allow trains to access the Freightliner depot. To depart towards Runcorn you would need to have bi-directional running as far as Speke Junction.

It's originally for the allerton-garston line. It is now a fixed red as the line is not currently in service, this should change when Manchester ROC takes over control. The signalling doesn't allow for a train to proceed towards Speke to be crossed over to an Up line. That's why our trains have to head north first to do a shunt.

I'm not sure this has been covered before, but I remember in the original plans of Liverpool Lime Street's remodelling showing Platform 7 becoming the new Platform 6 and the current Platform 1 being removed and placed where the current Platform 2 is right now. Is this still the case or will what use to be Platform 9 now going to be Platform 11 rather than 10?

To add just one platform overall seems an awful lot of work just for that. It is madness to get rid of old platform one when even more services could use lime st with it there. Is the removal of one to accommodate new retail facilities there?

The extended platform 2 (old number) means that platform 1 would only have room for four cars or so.
Personally, I would have thought that was still useful, but it's not included in the plans.
