Was the preferred bidder for the new LO West Anglia suburban fleet not due to have been revealed by early this month or has this been delayed? I thought I read somewhere (cannot remember where) that it should be known by March 6th.

Ah I did hear mutterings of this possibility, but originally it was purported to be an add-on to the 378 fifth-car build. Either the outstanding contract with Bombardier doesn't allow this to be viable, or they must find some serious better value if they're opting for what is non-standard for the moment; though of course it will be in common with the Goblin electrics, albeit with the proviso that they ensure DC-equipped units remain on the Watford line.

It states :

"The scope of the contract is expected to include:

(b) Operating a mixed fleet of rolling stock and managing multiple rolling stock providers;
(c) Supporting the introduction of a new fleet of at least 45 x 4-car EMUs to replace part of the existing fleet;
