Leeds to Sunderland request

One of the things I love about this site is how other people can save you money on train fare, but this one has me stumped.

I'm looking for a Leeds to Sunderland return bought on the day.

Not sure when the return is yet so that rules out advance tickets, but every option I can think of appears to cost more.

Can anyone help?

But reverse the direction and change the singles to returns and update to 2014 prices (it may not be cheaper to be "doubly valid" between Ulleskelf & Church Fenton on a return - check fares).

If you don't want to be restricted to trains that call at Church Fenton, split at York instead.

If you don't want to be restricted to GC trains, buy the "Any Permitted" ticket between Hartlepool & Sunderland
