Leeds to Carlisle via Settle: Theoretical minimum?

However in this case I simply wanted to note that both services were diesel-hauled - the absence of a timing load would have implied steam.
We also now know that they were timed identically, which relates to the comment upthread (see post #16) is that the Waverley appeared to be more smartly timed than the TC (only 10min extra for 4 stops).
There must therefore be another explanation for this - possibly a pathing issue?
(The equivalent northbound trains have a difference of 17min which is about right for the Waverley's 4 stops.)

I don't have the working timetable over the S&C so I can't provide additional insight here.

Oh sure ... If is a little word with a big impact though.

Unless there is a dramatic increase in demand for rail freight twixt Scotland and England, I think electrification of the S&C is about as (un)likely as reopening Harrogate to Northallerton in the next two decades.
I will be happy with that in 2044, and so will all of Ripon, although I will not see it.
