There have been boards up for a very long time when I’ve ventured out that way so can’t really see what the aim is. Wasn’t there an Indian restaurant in the arches below, and has that space now all fines? In theory the Scarborough pub should be delighted to not be faced with a bus stop and brick wall, but is if all really necessary
There was, and before that it was Dino's (my favourite place to spend an evening dining). The former rotunda is roughly where the lift/lifts is/are (I don't know how many there are).
Round the back, meanwhile, it's all very confusing. The steps and footpath that were supposed to have been closed off from 20 April are still open. The car park was split in two, and four blue portable cabins arrived. Last week, 36 white portable cabins arrived. I did wonder if the refurbishment of Princes Exchange was running behind schedule (it's Network Rail, so...) and the white portable cabins are to decant people from the admin block which is due to come down at some point. I think there are more cabins in that car park now that at Huddersfield for TRU...
Also, the barriers and car readers, as well as the centre post for the lockable gates, were removed last week and the area resurfaced to bring everything up to the same level. You'd have thought they would have done that months ago, given all of the previous work and low-loader movements, but obviously I'm no project manager.
