2027 is quite the wait for the 25.
Looking at that availability, it wouldn’t surprise me if a second diesel becomes an additional resident.

The 20 is currently out with an engine fault which I believe was one of the few things that wasn't touched during the overhaul and being stood still for ~2 years probably didnt help the case. There was work being done during the steam gala so hopefully its nothing too serious and it can be back sooner rather than later

I like the sound of "many more to come" for the Diesel Gala.

Agreed. I’ve always thought that the KWVR should have a (blue) class 31 given the frequency they passed through Keighley on both passenger and freight workings back in the 1980s.

Hopefully they won't do anything silly like dropping the 47 on the front of a 37 at Haworth loop.I'd take that challenge on. Plenty of experience from back in the day

It's not owned by the KWVR, it is privately owned, but it is resident at the KWVR. Proved very useful too.

I’m suprised that they haven’t considered hiring 44932 off WCR with the shortage of 6 coach locos as it’s currently sat around doing nothing and they have hired it before

I don’t think they hire it, it’s usually a swap for the railways own Black 5, so I doubt money changes hands, whereas it would if they hired it additionally now.
They also may be thinking about fire-risk over the summer.

Considering this, I'm surprised they haven't hired another diesel, if only the 14 and 47715 are available, and the 14 is incapable of hauling a 6 coach train by itself up the hill.

Awesome news!
The 14 is capable of it and has done it, it pulled 7 up over the Christmas period when the kettle failed at Keighley but isn’t something that should be planned for but can happen in cases of failure etc

Does fairly well on our engineering trains too which regularly come in at nearly 6 carriages weight wise.

In other news, the KWVR website now has full information for the diesel gala, including another visitor announcement in the form of 37025. Only D9520 and 08993 confirmed from the homefleet so far.

I visited the railway over the weekend and it was nice to see the new arrival prominently positioned at Haworth and looking splendid, she’s out running today.
I went mainly to get some more footage of 41241 and the Class 14 as it’s always good to see two loco-hauled trains out and I didn’t get much of the Ivatt at the steam gala. Unfortunately, the railway seemed very quiet, as did everywhere else I visited across the weekend so maybe everyone is away or staying at home.

Just back from an unplanned visit to KWVR - we set out for Hebden Bridge not knowing there was an event on and parking was a nightmare.
Just a short hop between Oxenhope and Haworth. Ivatt out, 47 back on a perfect spring day and not at all busy.

Anyone visiting the railway today will notice a lot of activity as the annual civil week (moved from it's usual September slot) is based at Keighley, with plenty of engineering trains out.
