I used to eat at KFC an awful lot (too much) but our local restaurant is slow, often gets orders wrong and I am certainly not convinced by their levels of hygiene [similar things, such as how they clean tables and collect trays]. As such, I no longer go there - which does mean that if it has improved in recent months, I won't know about it. I did try the place for a while, so I guess they're not mystery shopped like McDonald's - or not often enough to have noticed what I must have done, which even included the toilets being a mess and not looking like they were regularly cleaned.
Likewise, the local BK is another place that seems to be run badly - and on one occasion going to the drive-thru at 2145, I was told at the window (after no response from the order point) that they were closed. The sticker clearly said the opening hours were <whatever> until 2200.. So I said it was still fifteen minutes to closing, and he just pointed to their clock which was on 2200!
My watch and the car radio each said 2145, so goodness knows how they could be out by so much (and when told it was wrong, insisted it wasn't) so perhaps that was a time to discover that BK is in fact in another time zone! I wonder if the same branch opened extra early and then wondered why it took 15 minutes before any customers turned up!
If they're franchises, they should be regularly checked as a bad experience at one store that could (and should) be totally isolated might put many people off going to ANY branches.
