The poll has been a resounding success with just less than 50 votes so far. Only real suprises for me is the lack of votes for Scottish lines given their breathtaking scenery.

As long the railway has steam engines I don't care but there are some nice railways out there like the ones said in the poll but you forgot the Swanage railway & the Poppy line.

In my opinion, the best preserved line has got to be the Bluebell Railway. By far the best in the UK. Every single aspect, from the stations, to the staff, to the Victorian locomotives and rolling stock is perfect. It is literally, just like going back in time. Absolutely unbelieveable railway, well worth a visit.

That climb, I didn't think it would be much good before I sampled it. 37240 up there, magnifico!

The Fact that there is a single bore tunnel helps, keeps the noise contained!

Severn Valley's nice but too much steam!

Would have voted for the SVR as i'm a volunteer there so obviously a little biased but it wasn't on the poll when I voted at the start. There were a lot more diesel running days this year at the valley compared to previous years, the diesel running season started earlier and as in previous years the last turns have been at the eptember 'Thomas' event thisd year the last running day was the last Sat in September. Also had 3 Sunday and Maonday running dates if i remember rightly, two bank holidayt weekends at the beginning and end of May and the August Bank Holiday weekend!

Visited the Strathspey this year for the first time while on holiday in Scotland, was one of the few days they run a two train service a year. Wasn't that impressed to be honest, the guard on the one train was rude and at the middle shack (Boat of Garten) where we got off for a bit looking to go for a cup of tea there was no cafe that we could see open (and this is one of their busiest days???!!!), also on the bench was a volunteer who had been doing some work and was in a Hi-Vi jacket, my dad said 'hello mate, alright?' to the reply of 'No', he then said 'weathers not very good is it' to the reply of 'don't care' and walked off! Charming fellow! The Bo'ness line is very good, made my first visit in September, some very nicely restored locos and friendly staff.

MHR as two off my favorite classes WC 34007 Wadebridge & Standard class 5 73096 plus 850 Lord Nelson is going to be based there  as for the SKLR its a brilliant railway and I cant not wait for the return of SuperB & Leader. 8-)

They had more diesels going on than I thought then!

And yep, totally agreed that the single bore tunnel at Berwyn helps concentrate the noise!

Thats debateable Steve.

Certainly the most unique Industrial Railway, but the 15 inch gauge miniature mainline ar Romney, using exact 1/3 scale replicas of real locos, is the most unique I think. :D

Surely the Volk electric railway is?

But any who:D the volks is quite special railway but well it is small and has only one type of traction I would say it was more of a tourist attraction than anything (fun to go on though).
I allways think the foxfield light is quite special for it's quite steep gradient and for originally being a freight centre rather than a abandoned mixed traffic line.

I'd love to go to the Foxfield one day, looks like a really nice railway. I am quite attracted to the industrial scene, so it will be perfect.

The Volks Railway isnt amazing, but I suppose it has got a bit of history behind it. The only bad thing is that they have added these silly 'comic' hooters and siren things to them, which make them funny to listen to. Bit strange lol
