I've heard this too - within the week, apparently. The source I saw speculated that TfGM's running costs combined with lowering ticket prices has run them aground. It also said that First would likely be doing emergency tenders on affected routes using the ex-Finglands drivers.

Their Facebook page has disappeared. I recall them doing publicity stunts on it - one being where they uploaded a Euromillions tickets and said that if the ticket won they would share the prize money between everyone who shared it.

They are gone sadly. If you go tfgm's website and look on bus timetable changes it refers to changes with effect from 27 April.

There were rumours flying around yesterday, and it looks like it is true. I think First will be taking over many contracted routes as emergency tenders, I don't have details though.

Hopefully the drivers and other staff can get jobs at First or Stagecoach.

I wonder what will happen to commercial routes 156 and 118, which appear to be well used.

I think it is financial difficulties, as over the past year or so they have sold many of their newer vehicles, such as Enviro 400's for Olympians. JPT tried competing with First on route 17 then withdrew services, before resuming services again only to be withdrawn. They had to withdraw services on the route 112 where they competed with Bluebird then Stagecoach. Maybe they wouldn't be in the situation if they hadn't kept trying to take on the large companies on trunk routes.

There is a lot more going on in the Firm than what is being said at the moment, in the last couple of Hours Drivers are claiming the firm is to remain open but lets wait and see on that

JPT have however bought Layland Olympian H159 BKH, It was given fleetnumber 501 and entered service on Monday on service 118, I was able to catch it and i found it to be a great Bus with a Powerful Engine and 0 Rattles!

According to another forum a few people have sources claiming that JPT has been 'saved', I don't know anything beyond that at the moment.

Hopefully this is true, but if not hopefully the commercial routes can be taken over (TFGM will make sure the tendered routes are), the 118 and 156 duplicate other services, but they seem well loaded, so I can imagine First or Stagecoach wanting to start those if the worse happens.

Looks like there is some optimism.

I can't see First having much interest in the 118, since its mostly their routes, specifically the 88 and 89, and to a lesser degree, the 53 that it competes with out of NMGH. I can, however, see Stagecoach being somewhat interested, to go with the 112 between Manchester and the Ben Brierley.

Why would it have been ex-Finglands drivers as wouldn't they be more familiar with places like Altrincham, Didsbury and Sale than Middleton?

JPT doing no favours to themselves on the Tendered 98 service (Bury to Manchester) the 18:05 (first trip they do) was a no show, the 2nd trip (18:35) showed up, it was a President! think fleetnumber was 531, Very good Bus. when i arrived in Manchester i seen a friendly Driver i have spoken to a couple of times before, he shouted me over and gave me a Duty Sheet saying here's something for the Archive :P

I am informed by an extremely (and photos where sent to me to back this up) that JPT have a matter of Days, i dont want to say to much but the reason JPT never ceased trading on Thursday is coz a Bus Operator gave them a rescue package to give them time to take on the services.

FLEET CONDITION:

I might as well touch on this as theres a lot VOR and Withdrawn

BMC Falcon 401 is VOR with a Fault, it was on the pits yesterday but as we all know if the Bus requires a part thats not in stock they will be waiting a few weeks for it

B6's only 182 and 184 are on the road and 182 is pushing its luck as i had it on Thursday and it was slipping and sliding everywhere as the road was wet

Wright Liberators, only 433 R873 LHG is on the road, the other 2 are VOR/Withdrawn

Layland Olympian, as we are all aware JPT now have H159 BKH with Fleetnumber 501 however one of their Drivers was telling me how theres a 2nd in the Depot with bits missing of it so i think its safe to assume this one is for spares only

Plaxton President (Ex London) these are all for sale but sadly i dont know what ones have sold (if any!) the only ones in active service now is 531 and 534

Plaxton Primo, Again these are for sale (Thank F***) only 3 are left in Active service them being 255,256 and 258

Volvo Olympian (Ex Go North East Batch) 512 could be last man standing as 513 has picked up a bit of RTA damage

Optare Excel's 170,172,173,174 are all Withdrawn, 175 is the only one in active service but 171 could be getting reborn depending on its condtition, am told a decision has not been reached yet

Hope this is of some use to people :)

Did JPT eventually sell the 2 x 09 plate E300's? They advertized for some time & they dropped the price from £72.5k/each initially down to somewhere around £60k/each

Winston - Both of these are still with JPT, at least one of them was on the 164 (Manchester - Haywood via Middleton) today!

Paul - Yes, Friday was mentioned but it could be later than that.

Fleet updates:
Primo 257 returns to the road taking their Primo count up to 4

B6 183 has had parts removed of it for use on B6's 182 and 184

BMC Falcon 403 is sat right at the back missing a hell of a lot of parts and its left side suspension in the air

Dart T430 EBD is on the back line, its been there a very long time there and am not sure why

Presidents 522 and PN02 XBJ are both also parked at the rear of the Depot.

SERVICE REPORTS

Today the service being ran by JPT became even more shocking, the 118 thats ment to have a PVR of 6 only had 3 Buses on it (until around half 3 when a 4th Bus came out) all where Step Entrance Deckers Including the H reg Layland Olympian, the half 3 run out became the only Low Floor Bus, Wright Liberator 433.

the 98 Evening Tender Bury to Manchester shocked me the most, of all the Buses to allocate to the service the H reg Layland Olympian turned up and did the 18:05 from Bury...

Thats all the latest.

I saw a battered JPT Olympian near Shudehill yesterday and just behind it was an almost new First Manchester bus.

What about the three ex-Arriva Olympians they just bought? 515-517 I believe. Surely they cost a bit.

BMC Falcon returned to the road today and was noted on the Evening 164 Tender!

as far as am aware only S156 KNK and S148 KNK are on the road out of the Ex Arriva the Shires Deckers

The Battered Olympian will be the last of the Go North East batch 512, its easy to ID as its got a White Pannel on the Front
