Did anyone on the morning working of the Jacobite witness the window falling out and provide clues as to how it happened because I saw the result at Mallaig Station and one of the engine men (don't what his job was) didn't sound to pleased!!

Imagine if that happened behind a pair of 37s or something. Would make an opportunity for an epic group flail!

No one was injured but the crewman was a touch annoyed about where the passcom was pulled (in an uphill tunnel) so they had to set back to the bottom and then try again. Ended up 30 mins late into Mallaig

Shocking, absolutely shocking.

But then again, not so shocking. Having traveled on a fair number of trips I have noticed (and mentioned in the SRT 50s thread) the deteriorating condition of West Coast's coaching stock, the window frames look very knacked (the paint is pretty much gone and the wood shows a few signs of rot) so I guess loosing a window was bound to happen.

I get the feeling that this will have some serious ramifications for West Coast and railtours in general. Perhaps there is more to the story of WCRC having to pull coaching stock and forcing postponements and cancellations to tours.

At least nobody was injured when this incident occurred, now they just have to stop it happening again.

Did the train return with passengers to Fort William. If it did, at least the people in that coach could "enjoy"the steamy sounds and smells.

Apparently it got hauled back to Fort William by a 37.

Forget that, I got the wrong date.

It did return with passengers but the coach in question became the rear coach of the train!!
