The man in question has pleaded guilty to 'obstruction without intent'.

John Hughes, representing Badauskas, said a catalogue of calamity had beset his client after he came to the UK a week ago.
He flew into London Stansted Airport with a friend and travelled by bus to central London.
Badauskas, who has a degree in civil engineering, believed Stansted airport was part of London because of its title.
He went to see another friend, who was going to find him work.
However, Badauskas then lost all his possessions and ended up in Ipswich, which he also believed to be part of greater London.

Badauskas decided to go to Ipswich railway station because he had an Oyster Card, believing as it had money on it he could use it to buy a train ticket.
Unable to do so he then went outside the station and climbed on to the roof above the platform.
Mr Hughes said his client was scared to come down when police arrived as he had been trying to avoid paying for a ticket.

Badauskas, a father-of-one who got divorced in June, apologised for his actions during the stand-off.
Mr Hughes said: “He accepts his way of dealing with it was extremely foolish and he’s sorry for the disruption he caused to the people affected by his actions. He’s both ashamed and embarrassed by what happened. This is a young man who made a very foolish mistake.”

I think every one of us could have a moment where something 'flips'. I guess it's just that many of us never stumble upon that moment.

I can also see how people from some countries might react to seeing the police, given how their police forces might be at home. We're a pretty gentle lot, for the most part, but it's not like that everywhere.

Of course he's sorry now, couldnt give a flying fig about anyone else that day. Still heart warming that he had McDonalds delivered. Lets hope they removed the gherkin from his Big Mac like Mummy always does. How the hell did he get a degree in civil engineering?? :roll:

Ipswich railway station climber Mantas Badauskas jailed

A Lithuanian man, who disrupted train services across East Anglia by climbing onto the roof at Ipswich railway station, has been jailed for 16 months.

Mantas Badauskas, 26, of no fixed abode, remained on the roof for more than six hours on 19 July while the station's power was turned off.

The judge at Ipswich Crown Court described his actions as "attention-seeking and utterly self-indulgent".

He admitted causing obstruction without intent at an earlier hearing.
