Note the difference in reports;
The tests were stopped due to the air conditioning unit loosing a panel
However, prior to that there was an issue with the brakes on two units
These reports suggest a "software issue"; smoke and mirrors is all I can say about that!
I doubt we'll here anything official from Scotrail until tomorrow at the earliest.
It is nothing to do with ScotRail, at the moment, the official handover of the first two units is a week on Monday, which will then include those two units running between Glasgow and Ayr
However, to get that in place the units need to be "fully accepted" no later than 16:00 this Friday and this is looking extremely unlikely as the route acceptance has to be completed first
So far this is about half completed, it had been suspended just as the station stop tests were about to commence
Therefore, this official launch is likely to be put back to the third week of November, which is also the same day the new depot is officially opened (15 November)
Personally, I think that makes more sense
I have fired off three emails to Transport Scotland, hopefully they will respond on Monday; to ask about the Class 380, the actual reasons for the tests being suspended, any impact this may have on the cascade of EMUs (although last weeks response was there would be none with details of the contingency), and what rolling stock would be used and/or imported from other TOCs (which I suspect was an error)
